Have you ever visited a casino after going elsewhere for months or years and have a flashback to the great times that you had at your old favorite? That’s what happened to me on this visit to Red Rock Casino. I recently visited Red Rock Casino for the first time in a few months and was having Deja vu.
Fun time @redrockcasino today. It’s been a while since I went to Yard House happy hour. Glad to see it’s still great. pic.twitter.com/Stbob9ndVI

There was a time when I used to visit Red Rock Casino three to five times a week. This casino used to be “my local bar.” I was so infatuated that I wrote a blog post about the sportsbook bar when I regularly wrote for myself.
Red Rock has a good casino with fair limits and rules for most games. There are enough table games to handle the busiest days and nights. The sportsbook is HUGE with plenty of seating options, including a great bar with video poker.
The slot machine and video poker choices are ample. There are always new games on the casino floor. Some of the carny video poker games at Red Rock never make the Vegas Strip casinos. It’s a fun place to try new machine games.
Sure I miss my favorite LBS Burger but Red Rock usually has new and solid dining options moving in. The new location of Lotus of Siam is great and I don’t have to drive to the other side of the Vegas Strip for the good stuff. The only real miss was Hearthstone, which is now closed.
This feeling all started when a friend and I stopped at Yard House for one of the best Happy Hours in Las Vegas. Half-off a lot of food items and $2 off each of the 100+ beers is solid. I think our bill was $40 before the tip for four (maybe five) beers, chicken tenders, and a pizza.

Remember locals casinos are different. pic.twitter.com/88Ml3wLqTe
That feeling continued when we went out to look at the renovations from last year. This was also a reminder that locals casinos are different.
I slid up to the new video poker bar at Red Rock and sat down next to someone who had gone to the movie theater to buy popcorn. He snacked on the popcorn while drinking beer and playing video poker and keno. That’s not something you see at every casino.
Red Rock and many other locals casinos have movie theaters, large food courts, bowling alleys, and children’s play zones. Many of the casinos also have better gambling conditions than bars and those in the touristy parts of town.
I’m not a locals casino aficionado. Like casinos everywhere, some have environments and amenities I like and others don’t.
The Cosmopolitan is still my favorite Las Vegas casino but I was surprised by how much fun I had on my last visit to Red Rock Casino. This feeling doesn’t happen often since I don’t get too attached to casinos.
There are many casinos in Las Vegas and it’s easy to get bored with one place. I’m happy to have had this flame rekindled.
Have you visited an old favorite Las Vegas casino and had your passion re-ignited?
