48 Hours Inside The New Fontainebleau Las Vegas

My first overnight stay at Fontainebleau Las Vegas was a mixed bag. Feelings ranged from dealing with new casino opening problems to I love this place!
Caesars Palace Las Vegas Renovation Ups The Ante

As travelers continue to emerge from hibernation, casinos are once again starting to pour money into properties and renovations. This year seems to be the year of Caesars Entertainment, which has just completed a new entrance at Caesars Palace Las Vegas, ahead of an upcoming rebranding from Bally’s to Horseshoe.
NEW Wynn Las Vegas Rooms – The OG Of Vegas Luxury

Change is hard. But Vegas is all about change. The NEW Wynn Las Vegas Rooms deviate somewhat from the Roger Thomas style of Wynn Las Vegas. I must admit, I am still processing all of this change. Luxury hotels are all about keeping their room product fresh and “new.”
[First Impressions and Pics] Virgin Las Vegas

As you probably know by now Virgin Hotels Las Vegas (Virgin Las Vegas) recently opened where the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino once operated. I visited the property after a few days to allow the employees to settle into the new digs. The good news is that everyone was in great spirits and helpful.
Hotel Review | Circa Resort Single King – Las Vegas

The hotel at Circa Resort & Casino opened on December 28. We couldn’t wait to check it out but decided to give the staff a week to work out the kinks before spending the night. We are excited to share our hotel review and thoughts about Circa Vegas.
Park MGM Las Vegas | First Visit to the Fully Renovated Property

I finally visited the completely renovated Park MGM Las Vegas. I saw construction at the former Monte Carlo monthly over the past two-plus years. Finally, there was no more construction at Park MGM.
Treasure Island Hotel Review – Las Vegas

The hotel room at Treasure Island Las Vegas is exactly what I expected. The room was nice, clean and well put together. The furnishings and amenities won’t wow anyone but they’re appropriate for the price point and won’t disappoint.
Hotel Review | Planet Hollywood Ultra Resort Room

PLANET HOLLYWOOD Las Vegas Resort was my home away from home before moving to Las Vegas. The first time I stayed at the casino was during the renovation from Aladdin to the casino we know today.
First Glance | Borgata Atlantic City in 8 Pictures

This week we begin our look at one of the best and most exciting casino gaming resorts in the United States, Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa. The hotel is composed of two properties The Borgata and The Water Club Hotel at Borgata. While the marketing and promotional materials might tell a different story, there is still a very intense focus on casino gaming at Borgata.
Hotel Review | Lucky Dragon Las Vegas

When choosing a hotel, it’s good to understand a little bit about it so you know what to expect. Lucky Dragon Hotel & Casino has the goal to be Las Vegas’ first hotel and casino that was designed specifically to create an authentic Asian cultural and gaming experience. This was on my mind when I drove up to valet at Lucky Dragon Las Vegas.
Hotel Review | The Executive Suite At Wynn Palace Cotai – Part 2

The casino game today is a mix of different things. In Vegas, it’s corporate policy streamlining the house advantage while tossing out treats. In Macau, it’s one-upping your opponent, who can be bigger, flashier, better. In Atlantic City, it’s simple survival of the fittest, even if that means grinding your business from month to month. […]
Hotel Review | The Executive Suite At Wynn Palace Cotai – Part 1

In this first part of our Wynn Palace executive suite hotel review I was going along for the ride that was arguably the biggest casino resort opening of the decade.
Chasing Macau | Part 3 | Initial Impression Executive Suite – Wynn Palace Cotai

There will be a more formal review in the coming week, but for now my first impressions of the Executive Suite at Wynn Palace Cotai. Totaling 89 square meters (960 square feet), our Executive Suite features an expansive living room with marble-topped dining table ideal for meetings or festive dinners, while the plush seating area is enhanced with a 75-inch HD television.
Hotel Review | The D 2 Bedroom Suite – Part 2

After last week’s part one of this hotel review, t’s time to show you the rest of the surprises that we found within the D’s 2 Bedroom Suite!
Hotel Review | The D 2 Bedroom Suite – Part 1

The D 2 Bedroom Suite: Unless you’re sleeping (or booking) beneath a rock when in Vegas as of late, there’s no way you’ve not heard about the revival..
Las Vegas | Review Deluxe King Hotel Room At The D

One of the best reasons to stay at a hotel in downtown Las Vegas is the price. The standard (Deluxe King) room on a recent mid-week visit to The D Las Vegas costs $19.
Las Vegas | Paris Las Vegas Classic Room Review

Paris Hotel Las Vegas There is a lot to say about the entire property of Paris Las Vegas but I’d rather focus on the hotel room than the hodgepodge theme and not so great gaming. Paris is considered one of the top mid-tier Caesars Entertainment hotels in Las Vegas behind Caesars Palace and The Cromwell […]

This is Part 3 in a 4-part series comparing two casino resorts in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Part 2 detailed the Food & Beverage offerings and Part 1 covered the Rooms. The 4th and final part will talk about Gaming. In this part of the series, I cover Resort Amenities and Entertainment. Comparison Of The Resort […]
Lake Charles | Comparison Of The Golden Nugget And Pinnacle’s L’Auberge – Part 2

This is Part 2 in a 4-part series comparing two casino resorts in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Part 1 detailed the hotel rooms and now part 2 will compare both resorts’ Food & Beverage offerings. Comparison Of The Food & Beverage Offerings | Lake Charles Resorts The great thing about the Golden Nugget and L’Auberge casino resorts in Lake Charles […]
Lake Charles | Comparison Of The Golden Nugget And Pinnacle’s L’Auberge – Part 1

Lake Charles: the next generation of destination gambling? I live in Houston, Texas. Since Texas does not have legalized Class III gaming (aka traditional casino gambling), Southwest Louisiana offers the closest “locals” casino for someone in my locale. There are some racinos (race track + casino) and even a land-based casino in New Orleans. However, […]
Hotel Review: Embassy Suites at the LVCC (aka A Gamer In A Non-Gaming World) – Part II

If you caught part one of our review of the Embassy Suites at the LVCC you saw a little bit of everything. Interesting decor, a spacious room, a just removed location, and a hotel with not a single gaming fixture throughout. But as I know you’re avid readers of our reviews, I’ll spare you the […]
Las Vegas | Update: Recent Changes at Mirage

Mirage Las Vegas Finds New (Yet Old) Ground Don’t be fooled by the article’s headline. The thatched pits are still gone, the ceiling is still stark white and the carpet electrically colored tropical madness. But much like the good things The Mirage Las Vegas has been doing with their restaurants, including reintroduction of a 24 […]
Hotel Review | MGM SKYLOFTS Las Vegas 2.0

The MGM Skylofts are one of my favorite places to stay. Here’s an update of our last review : There are four types of rooms. The single bedrooms, the slightly larger single bedrooms near the front desk, two bedrooms with either a pool table or a foosball table, and the Barbara Streisand suite with two bedrooms, a […]
Hotel Review: Embassy Suites at the LVCC (aka A Gamer In A Non-Gaming World) – Part I

I am never one to say no to a last minute trip to Las Vegas. And especially seeing as how I’ve recently decided that driving that long beautiful stretch of highway to Sin City may not be all its cracked up to be thanks to the addition of parking fees and the reduction of intercity […]
Review Redux | The SLS Las Vegas Lux Tower SPG Junior Suite

The SLS Las Vegas Lux Tower SPG Junior Suite One of the first reviews I had the pleasure of doing when I started here at TravelZork was that of the SLS, Sam Nazarian’s reborn version of the Sahara. And the review brought with it many pleasant surprises that I honestly didn’t expect from the final […]
Hotel Review | Deluxe Room At The Linq Hotel

Deluxe Room At Linq Las Vegas Hotel Even though I live in Las Vegas now I still take my annual winter vacation on the Vegas Strip. This vacation usually means minimal work and lots of fun. This vacation was once again a success. The original plans for this vacation had half of the group staying at […]
Hotel Review | The Cosmopolitan Lanai Suite – Part II

The Cosmopolitan Lanai Suite The Cosmopolitan has always sold itself on being curious, outside the box, or “just the right amount of wrong”. (I apologize in advance for putting any of their commercial songs in your head.) And as we saw in part I of my review, the Lanai suites at the Cosmopolitan blend the […]
Hotel Review: The Cosmopolitan Lanai Suite – Part I

When writing for my previous employer (an amazing opportunity I will never regret or forget) I was fortunate enough to be part of the opening and media tours prior to of two properties that have become landmarks on the modern Las Vegas strip. When Aria opened, I toured the property the night before…casino empty, tables […]
Hotel Review | A Couple Nights In A Rio Las Vegas Classic Studio Suite

RIO All-Suite Las Vegas Hotel & Casino is a fantastic casino hotel conceptually. The idea of an affordable all suite hotel with a casino is a welcome concept when visiting Las Vegas. Most of the suites in Las Vegas casinos are closer to $200 per night while Rio is closer to $100 per night.
Hotel Review: The Queen Suite at the Delano – Part II

When MGM announced THEhotel, the all suite hotel tower at Mandalay Bay, would be taken over by Morgans hotel group and rebranded as the Delano, resurrecting plans for the former Echelon property that had been killed off with the great recession, many questions swirled about just how extensive the rebranding would be. Peeks were given […]
Hotel Review: The Queen Suite at the Delano – Part I

Las Vegas has always been a town of casino moguls, or nowadays corporations, doing whatever it takes to one up one another and draw in revenue. From the mundane, like changing paint colors, to the wildly imaginative like total reinventions of entire properties a la the SLS, Vegas is always looking to set trends in […]
Hotel Review | The Classic Room At The Borgata – Part I

We look at the Classic Room At The Borgata Atlantic City. So it was not a question that I would have to stay at the property that changed Atlantic City’s fame with one word…Borgata.
Hotel Review | The Golden Gate Suite at the Golden Gate Las Vegas

Hotel Review: The Golden Gate Suite at the Golden Gate Las Vegas Back in 1906, when Las Vegas was just a dusty crossroads in the middle of the Nevada territory, a tiny hotel for travelers through the area opened at the corner of Main and Fremont. The Hotel Nevada, as it was called then, gave […]
American Express Fine Hotels and Resorts (FHR)

The American Express Fine Hotels and Resorts (FHR) program is quite simple – if you have an Amex Platinum (or Centurion) card, and you book a stay at one of the 800+ luxury hotels in the program through the Amex Platinum Travel services you will get a nice set of benefits.
Hotel Review | Deluxe King Nobu Hotel At Caesars Palace

Deluxe King Nobu Hotel At Caesars Palace It’s no secret here amongst Vegas regulars that Caesars Palace, once a bane amongst frequents, has been on something of an uptick. With the debut of the gorgeous and modern Octavius Tower, a new buffet, and the creation of the Laurel Collection, Sarno’s first masterpiece has proven that […]
Hotel Review | MGM SKYLOFTS Las Vegas

This is a guest review by my good friend Mike from frequentflyermiles101.com, a site for those just learning the points game. One of the smartest miles+points people that I know, Mike is also obsessed with getting amazing value on luxury experiences. Also, be aware that we also have a Review Version 2.0, that covers a few additional […]
The Mirage Cabanas | A Summer Retreat

Summer At The Mirage Cabanas There’s nothing quite like Las Vegas in the summertime. The oppressive heat causes people to stream inside the casinos getting off the 110°F (43°C) pavement for respites at the blackjack tables, shopping or to one of the many differing resort pools located throughout the city. Each one has its own […]
In Memoriam | The Revel Atlantic City Ocean Suite

No more proof of this is needed then my stay in an Ocean Suite at Revel Atlantic City which deserves a revisit both in remembrance of the what was and in hope for the future of a hotel that deserves to be open and operating once again.
Hotel Review | The Octavius Tower at Caesars Palace

Before we discuss The Octavius Tower at Caesars, let’s talk architecture. The concrete and glass forms of IM Pei. The explanatory structural simplicity of Mies van der Rohe’s creations. This marriage of simple, pure, useful design and comfortability has been what is driving this whitewashing of Vegas.
Hotel Review: The Salon Suite at Encore Las Vegas – Part II

The suites, now approaching 5 years old and unbelievably about to be completely renovated, are still the high bar for luxury hotel suites in Las Vegas.
Hotel Review: The Salon Suite at Encore Las Vegas – Part I

The Salon Suite at Encore Las Vegas – Part I The Salon Suite at Encore Las Vegas – Part II Other Vegas Hotel Reviews : LUX King at the SLS Las Vegas Steve Wynn and luxury are a forgone conclusion. Beginning with his days at the Golden Nugget, it was readily apparent that Mr. Wynn […]
Hotel Review | LUX King at the SLS Las Vegas

A Surprisingly Likeable Stay When Sam Nazarian sauntered up to the doors at Sahara and stuck a hand written note saying “Be Back Soon!” in May of 2009, I figured the 59 year run of the property was over. Once a name up with Dunes, Sands, and the big boys, the Sahara had faded into […]
Hotel Review | The Water Club at Borgata

It was no surprise then, that with demand at a high and occupancy kept near full, that Borgata would choose to expand its operations 2008 to accommodate more guests. The result of this choice was The Water Club at Borgata, a standalone boutique hotel attached via walkway to the already bustling Borgata. With 800 rooms and an impressive collection of pools and spa facilities, the Water Club has given a new level to what was already considered the best hotel in AC. It was a no brainer given the circumstances then that on my first visit to Atlantic City I had to try out the Water Club and see if it stood up to my already high Las Vegas standards.
