Here’s When You Can Get The Cheapest Flights To Las Vegas
On Sunday News this week we introduced you to an interesting infographic from Vegas.com. The chart looks at the best times to book flights to Las Vegas from different regions in America. The chart uses data from thousands of flights booked all over the country in 2014 and 2015 on various airlines. The results show information that could be helpful for saving money when booking airfare to Las Vegas.
Whether it’s work or play I’m a neurotic planner and like to have everything in my schedule ASAP. Even things like washing my car sometimes get scheduled. It’s obnoxious, I know. This infographic showed me that early planning won’t always be the necessary to save money booking flights to Las Vegas. In fact, booking as early as I’d like isn’t the most financially beneficial time for someone booking flights to Las Vegas where I used to live (Mid-Atlantic region).
This chart looks at the best time-frame and days to book your flights to Las Vegas in 10 different regions of America. If you look for travel deals regularly this information probably won’t surprise you. If you’re less devoted to travel research some of this information may be eye opening. Let’s look at each region in America:
California
29% Of the people who visited Las Vegas last year came from somewhere in California (see LVCVA 2015 visitor profile) so it was made into its own region.
- Best timeframe to book: It’s best to book your flight to Las Vegas more than six weeks in advance.
- Best day to book: Tuesday is the best day of the week to book your flight to Las Vegas.
- Savings: In 2015, you could end up spending $98 more than average by waiting until the same week to book their flight. You could end up spending $134 more than average for a same-week flight in 2014.
- Research: Vegas.com looked at 26,055 flights from AirTran, American Airlines, Alaska Airlines, Frontier Airlines, JetBlue, Spirit Airlines, United Airlines, US Airways and Virgin America.
Pacific West
Alaska, Hawaii, Oregon, Washington
- Best timeframe to book: It’s best to book your flight to Las Vegas eight to nine weeks in advance.
- Best day to book: Thursday is the best day of the week to book your flight to Las Vegas.
- Savings: In 2015, you could end up spending $60 more than the average fare by waiting until the same week to book their flight. Historically, five weeks in advance is the minimum time to get your tickets before you see a more expensive than the average price.
- Research: Vegas.com looked at 34,616 flights from Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Frontier Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, Island Air, JetBlue, Qantas Airways, Sprit Airlines, United Airlines, US Airways, Virgin America and Wings Alaska.
Mountain West
Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Wyoming, Utah

- Best day to book: Monday is the best day of the week to book your flight to Las Vegas.
- Savings: In 2015, you could end up spending $91 more than the average fare by waiting until the same week to book their flight. You could end up spending $170 more than average for a same-week flight in 2014. Historically, three weeks in advance is the minimum time to get tickets before you see a more expensive than the average price.
- Research: Vegas.com looked at 13,329 flights from Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Frontier Airlines, Spirit Airlines, United Airlines and US Airways.
West South Central
Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Texas
- Best timeframe to book: It’s best to book your flight to Las Vegas seven to nine weeks in advance.
- Best day to book: Sunday is the best day of the week to book your flight to Las Vegas.
- Savings: You could end up spending $137 more than the average fare by waiting until the same week to book their flights. It is best to book your flight at least four weeks in advance to avoid a more expensive than the average price.
- Research: Vegas.com looked at 41,343 flights from AirTran, American Airlines, Frontier Airlines, JetBlue, Spirit Airlines, Sun Country, United Airlines, US Airways and Virgin America.
East South Central

- Best day to book: Friday is the best day of the week to book your flight to Las Vegas.
- Savings: In 2014, you could end up spending $200 more than the average fare by waiting until the same week to book their flight. Historically, two weeks in advance is the minimum time to get your tickets before you see a more expensive than the average price.
- Research: Vegas.com looked at 3,803 flights from Frontier Airlines, American Airlines, United Airlines and US Airways.
South Atlantic
Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Washington, D.C., West Virginia
- Best timeframe to book: It’s best to book your flight to Las Vegas at least six weeks in advance.
- Best day to book: Friday is the best day of the week to book your flight to Las Vegas.
- Savings: In 2015, you could end up spending $120 more than the average fare by waiting until the same week to book their flight. You could face up to $166 more than average for a same-week flight in 2014. In 2015, the minimum booking window was two weeks in advance before you saw a more expensive than the average price.
- Research: Vegas.com Vegas.com looked at 31,411 flights from AirTran, Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Frontier Airlines, Gulfstream International, JetBlue, Spirit Airlines, Sun Country, United Airlines, US Airways and Virgin America.
West North Central

- Best timeframe to book: It’s best to book your flight to Las Vegas seven weeks in advance to take advantage of the best airline rates.
- Best day to book: Mondays and Wednesdays are the best days of the week to book your flight to Las Vegas.
- Savings: You could end up spending $110 more than the average fare by waiting until the same week to book their flight. In 2015, it was best to book your flight at least two weeks in advance before you saw a more expensive than the average flight to Vegas from the West North Central region.
