We’ve all seen snippets about the proposed Lucky Dragon boutique hotel on Sahara, near the now transformed SLS and Rock In Rio site at the intersection of Sahara and LVB. But the project is now very much based in reality and not just renderings, with the tower taking shape and nearly topped out structurally, and the rest of the site well under construction.
As stated, the Lucky Dragon will cater to high end Asian gamers, with luxury appointments and a heavy focus on Asian design influences nodding to luck and fortune. The buildings, clad in red, will be much in line with the scale of the M Resort, however with a much heavier focus on the aforementioned design aesthetics married with a modernist twist.
I for one am glad to see new growth, even if small on, near the SLS signaling that perhaps the long rumored North Strip renaissance is underway. It will be fun to see if MGM steps up with their land, or if they continue to let it squander and focus on the southern properties along their new Neighborhood and CityCenter. Only time will tell.
For now, enjoy the following renderings, courtesy of EV&A architects, and indulge in the delicious richness of the Dragon. I don’t know about you, but I certainly plan to see just what magic might happen within the smallish boundaries of the property. Big things do come in small packages after all.
