Introducing: MGM Collection With Marriott Bonvoy
This morning, MGM and Marriott announced a strategic partnership between the brands in Las Vegas. Starting in October, this agreement replaces the one that MGM had with Hyatt.
What We Know So Far about the MGM and Marriott Tie-up
With the Hyatt-MGM partnership coming to an end, it’s not a huge surprise that MGM moved on to Marriott. It’s an issue that we’ve discussed before, but Marriott simply has a much larger national footprint than Hyatt does. That means more customers for Marriott to funnel into the MGM system, while giving gamblers far more choices outside of Vegas. Hyatt’s purchase of the Dream properties may have added one more option to Las Vegas, but Marriott simply has that much more firepower. It also puts an end to speculation over the fate of Cosmopolitan’s loyalty program.
MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy
According to the press release, the agreement will cover 17 MGM properties in Las Vegas. Of those 17, four will join existing Marriott brands (in addition to the MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy), including:
- Cosmopolitan and Aria will both be part of the Autograph Collection
- Park MGM will join the Tribute Collection
- Bellagio will join the Luxury Collection
The rest of the Las Vegas properties will be a part of the overall “MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy” agreement.
Outside of Las Vegas, five properties will join the partnership. They include:
- Borgata in Atlantic City
- Beau Rivage in Biloxi
- MGM Grand in Detroit
- MGM National Harbor in Maryland
- MGM Springfield in scenic Springfield, MA
Huge Booking Perks with TravelZork Travel
Marriott offers additional perks at its luxury properties through its Stars and Luminous program. Stars and Luminous are only available to preferred travel agents, which includes TravelZork Travel. Bellagio will be part of the Stars program, while Park MGM, Cosmo and Aria will fall under Aria.
Note that Cosmo is an “enhanced” Luminous property, meaning that it also offers a $100 hotel credit for your stay. I wouldn’t be surprised if at least Aria was also enhanced.
The bottom line is that TravelZork Travel can handle all of your travel, get you your Bonvoy points and throw in extra complimentary amenities. That’s a heck of a bonus for this new partnership.
