Use Chase Sapphire Reserve credit card benefits to save on hotel rooms, food, and shows in Las Vegas while stacking benefits from casino loyalty programs!
Earlier this year, Chase announced new benefits on the Chase Sapphire Reserve credit card. While the annual fee increased in conjunction with new benefits, existing cardholders got additional ‘free’ benefits for no annual fee increase (until the next annual fee posts) most notably:
- $250 credit with The Edit (hotels and resorts) twice per year in January through June and July through December
- $150 credit with Sapphire Reserve Exclusive Tables (select restaurants) twice per year in January through June and July through December
- $150 credit with Stubhub (event tickets) twice per year in January through June and July through December
The ‘grandfathered’ benefits with no annual fee increase is a great opportunity for the later part of 2025 – potentially $550 in value if you value the credits at face value. Existing cardholders can also use credits in early January for another $550 in value, and then downgrade to the Chase Sapphire Preferred (or other cards) getting a prorated annual fee adjustment, assuming they had the card for more than a year. Keeping the Sapphire Reserve is also an option.
I will use the three new credits in Las Vegas around the time of Zorkfest.
I purchased a $159 ticket for Wizard of Oz at Sphere, effectively paying $9 out of pocket. I wanted to visit Sphere for a show in the past, but didn’t want to pay $100+, so this is a great opportunity to have a Sphere experience at very little cost. You may possibly even find tickets for less than $150 and pay $0 after the statement credit.

For dining, I made a reservation for Vanderpump in Paris Las Vegas. $150 will be a massive amount of food compared to my usual check around $15-20, so I don’t highly value this benefit, but of course I will use it and especially like that Chase is covering the tip rather than me dropping $25+ on the table. I can also use my four Caesars Rewards (no apostrophe, RIP Darryl) Diamond Plus drink credits or vouchers for alcoholic drinks less than $25 each. This visit will also earn some Tier Credits and Reward Credits since it is paid for by the Chase Sapphire Reserve (and not Reward Credits).
Using The Edit, I had a difficult time finding inexpensive hotel rates, so I settled on an $828.66 rate for the required minimum two night stay. I used points plus cash charging $250.86 to my Chase Sapphire Reserve card (to use the statement credit) and using 28,890 Ultimate Rewards. I will also get a $100 dining credit and “daily breakfast for two” according to the general Chase Edit page. I will possibly get a room upgrade, early checkin, late checkout, and a welcome amenity.

In addition to The Edit benefits, I can present my MGM Platinum status and may possibly get a $50 food coupon as I had during multiple stays this year. If I’m very fortunate, I can also get a resort fee refund or perhaps get an additional dining credit due to being charged the resort fee by Chase even though I added my MGM Rewards number to the booking.

Since America Loves Math, my 28,890 points would normally cash out at $361.12 with the Pay Yourself Back feature. With a $100 dining credit and two breakfasts for two, depending on how much they give me for breakfast, I maybe get about $200 in food making the effective cost about $150 for two nights or $75 a night with a possible room upgrade. I also plan to stay at Park MGM for another two nights with a MyVegas night, so this will save me a luggage packing and unpacking and a hotel hop. I will also use various MyVegas rewards at Park MGM.
As usual, Vegas presents many opportunities to make and save money and the value proposition gets even better with using Chase Sapphire Reserve benefits, even if only in December 2025 and January 2026 for those who eventually downgrade their Chase Sapphire Reserve because of the annual fee increase. As always, use credit and gamble responsibly and intelligently. See you at ZorkFest 2025!
