If you have played Blackjack for any length of time, I am certain you have heard table mates scolding other players with, “Why did you hit? You ruined it for the table.” It is a very commonly held misbelief that the play of other people at the table has a negative effect on the results for the other players.
When I ‘m playing video poker, conversations often start with other players and I’m still surprised that there are so many players who are adamant in their belief in verifiable falsehoods. I gently try to steer them towards the correct strategy or odds, but I usually get overruled.
I really do try to be an Advantage Player, but the Degenerate within, has more power than I’d like it to. In order to validate the Advantage player, while taming the Degenerate, I keep a Gambling Log.
