If you find yourself commuting regularly between Newark, London and Paris and prefer to be assigned a seat in the business class cabin for every flight, you may be in luck, as La Compagnie — an airline which offers only business class — is giving you the opportunity to enjoy an unlimited amount of flights within one year as a business class passenger.
Unlimited Business Class Travel Between Newark and London and Paris? Yes — But…
You read that correctly — one full year of unlimited transatlantic flights in the business class cabin can be yours…
…so what is the catch?
- Only ten passes — each exclusively granting its user those unlimited business class flights in a concept called L’Unlimited — will be available as of Monday, July 18, 2016; and you must complete this form to receive a reminder as to when you can access the ability to acquire one of those ten passes
- If you are fortunate enough to procure one of those ten passes, you will be required to pay $35,000.00 for not only the chance for unlimited business class travel between Newark, London and Paris for an entire year; but also for the use of a personalized conciergerie who will be at your service all year — including the booking and management of your flights
Is $35,000.00 Worth the Price of Unlimited Business Class Tickets for One Year?
The ability to be able to be able to travel as a business class passenger whenever you want — assuming that space is available — is quite enticing; but at $35,000.00, L’Unlimited may seem like a rather expensive option. However, that depends on what you want or need.
At Full Flex pricing — the most expensive of four pricing options for purchasing a business class ticket on flights operated by La Compagnie — booked at the last minute, the cost of a return ticket can be $5,596.76 including all taxes and fees. You would only need seven return flights to be slightly ahead of this deal with a L’Unlimited pass.
If you would typically book with Promo pricing — the least expensive of four pricing options — booked in advance, the cost of a return business class ticket can be as low as $1,575.96 including all taxes and fees. You would need at least 23 return flights to be slightly ahead of this deal with a L’Unlimited pass.
Because the premium class experience of La Compagnie is not considered comparable to offerings by established legacy airlines, the comparison of business class airfares with other airlines has purposely been excluded from this article.
Summary
Eight years ago, Michael Trager — who is a co-founder of TravelZork — and I were amongst a select group of passengers for an inaugural flight aboard an airplane operated by OpenSkies, which is a division of British Airways. It started off as an airline which only offered a choice between first class and business class; but the airline eventually added economy class seats to its fleet of airplanes, as operating solely as a premium class airline was not as successful as initially expected.
Keep in mind that there have been reports questioning the reliability of the operations of La Compagnie — which launched its operations two years ago — have been sketchy in a difficult space where premium class airlines have not been successful. Examples of experiences with customer service and reliability issues have been reported by FlyerTalk members.
In other words: should your flights not be cancelled and you intended to fly often as a passenger in the business class cabin between Newark, London and Paris anyway within the coming year, $35,000.00 might actually be a bargain for you. Otherwise, you might want to consider skipping this offer and simply book your flight reservations with La Compagnie as you go — especially when there are occasional sales of which you can take advantage.
