Using the Caesars Rewards Visa Credit Card to Earn Diamond Status

Caesars Rewards Visa

Following changes in status matching, particularly Wyndham Rewards no longer offering an easy path to Caesars Diamond status, status with Caesars Rewards has been more challenging to attain. However, the often overlooked Caesars Rewards Visa Credit Card offers a promising path to maintaining Caesars Rewards Diamond status with less gambling than is usually required.

Although the Caesars Rewards Visa lacks a large signup bonus, it shines because new credit card members can earn 7500 Tier Credits in the first calendar year of approval. At the time of this article writing, the welcome bonus offers cardmembers a one-time bonus (in most circumstances) of 10,000 Reward Credits ($100 in comps) and 2,500 Tier Credits after spending $1000 outside of Caesars properties in ninety days.

Tier Credits On the Up and Up

Additionally, Caesars Rewards Visa cardmembers who spend $5000 in any calendar year (this is repeatable each year) gain 5000 tier credits. In year one, a new Caesars Rewards Visa credit card, after $5000 in spending, gives a total of 7500 Tier Credits, halfway towards earning Caesars Rewards Diamond status with no gambling necessary.

Even after year one with the Caesars Rewards Visa credit card, a bonus of 5000 Tier Credits is valuable, especially for those only pursuing Diamond status who won’t be gambling a significant amount.

My Strategy

To earn the rest of the Tier Credits needed for Caesars Rewards Diamond status, I played Jacks or Better Video Poker in Atlantic City during a Tier Credit multiplier promotion in December of 2024. so I would give up less in expected value and play for a shorter time versus playing on an un-bonused day earning only 1x Tier Credits.

If I only used the Caesars Rewards Visa credit card to earn 7500 Tier Credits in my first year, I would then need to earn another 7500 Tier Credits for Diamond Status, or, in a sense, 1500 when considering the multiplier (and even less considering various bonuses for earning a certain amount of Tier Credits in one gaming day).

On the Flip Side

At worst, I would have to play through $15,000, a loss of only about $450 in expected value since I played during a tier multiplier promotion and earned Tier Credits from the Caesars Rewards Visa card.

In 2024, I gambled very little in person with Caesars, but earned some Tier Credits through hotel bookings and online Blackjack play, so I was very close to Caesars Diamond status without trying, and largely thanks to the Caesars Rewards Visa I was approved for in April of 2024.

My Thoughts

Caesars Rewards Diamond status is valuable because of benefits, including waived resort fees, a yearly $100 dining comp, a heavily discounted stay in Atlantis, Paradise Island, lower hotel rates (usually), and other perks. Potentially losing a few hundred dollars in Video Poker is worth the benefits.

As always, gamble and use credit cards responsibly and intelligently to challenge the false maxim of ‘the house always wins’ and turn the odds in your favor, combining the worlds of gambling, casino loyalty, and miles and points.
