Some like it hot. Some like it cold. From an Indoor Beach Bash at Tropicana, to New Year’s Day polar bear plunges, January in Atlantic City offers something for everyone.
Running Hot and Cold
Start the year with a Polar Bear Plunge in the Atlantic Ocean outside Resorts Casino Hotel or at Golden Nugget’s H2O rooftop pool. Participants in the 26th annual event race into the ocean promptly at noon to support the Muscular Dystrophy Association of America. Plungers who go directly under water receive an official Polar Bear Certificate. For more information call (800) 334-6378 or visit AtlanticCityPolarBearClub.com. At Golden Nugget doors open at noon and the plunge takes place at 3 p.m. Participants will receive a complimentary cocktail after the plunge.
Two weeks later you can warm up by recapturing that fun-in-the-sun feeling at Tropicana’s Indoor Beach Bash Jan. 14 through Feb. 28. Look for sand sculptures, free concerts, a beach ball drop, summer cocktail specials, frozen treats, nightlife parties, fitness demonstrations and shopping deals property-wide. Be sure to visit the website for a full list of Beach Bash offers, activities and events.
As part of the Beach Bash Mark Diomede and The Disco Inferno Band will perform a free concert Jan. 21 in the Grand Exhibition Center. Show time is 8 p.m. and doors open at 7:30.
If hunger strikes between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. any Friday or Saturday while you’re at Tropicana, the casino’s Fiesta Buffet offers a new late night a la carte menu. Diners will find soups and salads, burgers, sandwiches and desserts, as well as steak and eggs or a full strip steak dinner.
Wing Wars
Haven Nightclub at Golden Nugget will become a battleground at 3 p.m. Jan. 28 when Wing Wars takes place. Fifteen of the best wing spots in South Jersey will compete for votes during the event. It’s an all-you-can-eat wings extravaganza for $25. Visit ACWeekly.com for more information or to purchase tickets.
Video Game Gambling Expands
Video game gambling has expanded to the Tropicana. Three triple-unit carousels of GameCo, Inc.’s Danger Arena are now in place throughout the casino. Previously, these machines were available for play only at Bally’s Wild Wild West, Caesars and Harrah’s.
Baywatch 3D
Unless you want to travel to McCarren International Airport in Las Vegas, Golden Nugget is the only place in the world right now where you can play Baywatch 3D. These innovative slot machines are located next to Plants vs Zombies 3D between Grotto and Rush Lounge. Golden Nugget will have them exclusively throughout most of the month.
Resorts Extends Free Parking
Resorts is offering free self-parking every day through Jan. 31.
