Boats and food top the March agenda of events in Atlantic City.
Boat Show sets sail
The Progressive Insurance Atlantic City Boat Show launches March 1 for a five-day “cruise” at the Atlantic City Convention Center. Now in its 38th year, the show will feature more than 500 boats, represented by hundreds of dealers and manufacturers.
Unique this year is a 20- by 30-foot indoor paddle pool where visitors can try things like stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking and other sports.
Tickets are $16 for adults; children 15 and younger are free.
For complete information or to purchase tickets, visit ACBoatShow.com.
Restaurant Week on the menu
Atlantic City Restaurant Week takes place March 5 to 10. Participating restaurants will offer lunch for $15.17 per person and dinner for $35.17 per person. Visit ACRestaurantWeek.com for complete information.
Speaking of restaurants, Tropicana opens three new Jose Garces concepts March 3: • Olon Restaurante is a fine dining seafood restaurant located in the former oceanfront space occupied by Fin. Fresh seafood will be served in distinctive, modern presentations. Olon is the name of a city in Ecuador and represents Garces’ Ecuadorian roots. Olon will be open seven days a week for lunch 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and dinner 5 to 11 p.m., midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. Make reservations on Open Table or by calling (800) 345-8767. • Okatshe is a Japanese sake and noodle bar located next to Olon in the former Seaside Café. To be open daily from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m., Okatshe is a take on the Japanese word for “sweets.” The décor will resemble a Japanese streetscape and the menu will feature sushi, sake and noodle bar food stalls with a unique Japanese candy store at the entrance. • La Cerveceria is the interactive, double-sided bar in the center that connects the two restaurants. The menu will feature seafood, sushi and other items along with 24 types of draft beer. La Cerveceria will have live entertainment from 9 p.m. to midnight on Fridays, Saturdays and holiday weekends. The bar will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.
As if those new restaurants are not enough, Tropicana celebrates Bacon Week, March 19 to 25. Indulge in unique bacon dishes including bacon cocktails, desserts, and more. Bite into a half-pound BLT, savor a bacon ice cream sundae, or drink your bacon in a bacon infused martini. View the menu at tropicana.net/baconweek.
Run for your life
To work off some of that food, participate in the 38th annual St Patrick’s Day Boardwalk 10 miler and 5K run on March 18. The annual run starts at 10 a.m. at Chickie’s and Pete’s at the Tropicana. Participants can register in advance online at www.jbsportstiming.com. In person registration will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. March 17 and March 18 from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Chickies’s and Pete’s. While supplies last, long sleeve shirts will be provided to those who pre-register. For the ninth consecutive year, the run will benefit both the Donny Fund and the South Jersey Field of Dreams. For more information call John Glassey at (609) 641- 8666.
