Getting the best bang for your buck is one of the things that makes the TravelZork community so great. This is best on a macro level. While many of you are obsessed with always finding the best deal, I’ve been able to learn which specific things fit my life., one of them being the best Vegas booze for the buck,.
Neither is wrong – it’s just a matter of what works best. That’s the best part of this community to me. We can all use the information as we’d like. Additionally, we can learn tactics for one business and use them for another that we like.
The community is more than that, though. Many members are also rewards-minded people looking for a good time in the casino. This includes everything from dining to gambling.
Years ago, I had plans to write a book about finding the right mix of fun and gambling. Life took me in another direction, but this is always on my mind. I’ve shared many of these tales at TravelZork over the years.
Since moving to Las Vegas, my preferences on how to use casino rewards have changed. Frankly, a complimentary meal at a local casino or bar matters as much as getting comp rooms on the Vegas Strip.
Since I’ve been here so long, the local perks might matter more. My friends who care about rewards have all learned many tricks from TravelZork and other groups and websites and I can use rewards just for my daily life.
Getting The Best Vegas Booze For The Buck
I’ve been “researching” casino booze since I moved to Las Vegas. When I first moved here, I wanted to learn about the sipping boozes because drinking too much vodka or beer sent me to the men’s room too often for a liking. I wrote about my findings of which casinos comp’d the best bourbon, scotch and whiskey for Vegas Chatter (RIP).
Years later, I did the same when I became obsessed with drinking the most flavorful beers in casinos. The information is irrelevant at this point since that was before the Covid-19 pandemic.
More recently, I’ve also become somewhat obsessed with finding great drink values while I’m gambling.
While I care about gambling odds, less than a handful of people I know feel the same. My friends are more important to me than playing the best games or getting the cheapest price on meals and drinks.
That said, If I’m going to play games with the worst odds, I might as well get good drinks!
Sharing Is Caring, So Is Keeping Secrets
I usually share details when I find good complimentary drinks on the socials. I pass the information on mostly through Instagram stories since they disappear after a day.
There are times when a deal is so good that I won’t share where to find it unless someone asks. Not everyone deserves to get the best information. Feel free to follow @meltzvegas here.
Before MGM Resorts took over the Cosmopolitan, I would play the bad video poker at Chandelier bar because I could get great complimentary drinks not available at other casinos.
Can’t remember who asked yesterday but Angels Envy is one drink ticket at Chandelier Bar. pic.twitter.com/NCcEFBRge2

Signature cocktails aren’t my thing, but good bourbon is. I enjoyed many many glasses of Angel’s Envy while playing video poker at a leisurly place. I shared many pics of this when I was staying at the Cosmopolitan. Compared to the swill available at most casinos, this was a great deal.
I haven’t gambled at The Cosmopolitan much since MGM took over, so I’m not sure what it’s like now.
Today, Resorts World probably offers the best complimentary drinks at both its center bar and high-limit bar.
Last year, I found one casino video poker bar that was offering anything it had complimentary for anyone playing the bartop machines.
Did I enjoy a couple Blantons? You bet! Did I share that publicly? No way!
The bar now caps complimentary drinks to mid-tier spirits. It was fun while it lasted!

Last year, I also found a non-casino gaming bar that has Macallan 12 for $13. That’s about half the price most casinos charge. This cheap price is even lower during happy hour when all booze is half price. $6.50 for a Macallan is ridiculous – even if it’s a small pour. Since it’s a gaming bar, I can pay for these drinks with reward dollars.
I don’t drink beer as often as I used to because “Leon’s getting larger” and this Leon needed to slow that down. That said, I still love beer and it’s still on my best Vegas booze list, but only drink it occasionally now.
Knowing where to find the best complimentary beer is important if I’m going to enjoy it. Not all casino bars are the same, and this takes some time to find.
Park MGM has a few video poker bars with different offerings. The main casino bar has all the basics but nothing special. Pro tip: Upper-tier MGM Rewards members can ask for a “long pour” on mixed drinks here to get a little extra love in their cocktail.
Take 2. “Can I get the tie dye beer please?” #ZorkFest

Talking points, miles, gambling and drinking beer. #blessed pic.twitter.com/3lh2tXRlqt
Juniper is a gin bar with limited complimentary spirits. The sports bar, on the other hand, has a great beer selection.
Over the weekend, I started my night with the same “tie-dye beer” I had been drinking throughout ZorkFest last year. It was a nice start to a fun evening with delicious food from Best Friend and a bunch of knuckleheads I’ve known for about half my life.
Going full circle, the TravelZork community shares so much information, from how to get comp cruises to little things like where to get better booze. It’s a great thing and one we should all cherish.
