With all the growth, luxury and attention splurged on the Strip, we shouldn’t fail to forget there are a few really beautiful properties that are considered “locals” joints dotted around the Las Vegas valley. The M to the south is one such hotel, as is Red Rock to the west, and Aliante to the north. Built as Aliante Station, the clean-lined hotel has its fanbase among those in the north of Vegas.
The business story of Aliante though hasn’t always been peachy. Initially a partnership between Station Casinos and a private equity firm, the hotel was sold into private ownership as part of Station’s bankruptcy restructuring a few years back. Since then it’s continued to do well, and that part attracted new interest.
Announced Tuesday, Aliante as it’s been known since the Station disconnect, is now majority owned by Boyd Gaming, joining their long list of properties. The announcement likely means that the loyalty program will be transitioned over time into the BConnected world, as well as allowing for more cross-property promotion which could help put the quiet Aliante a bit more on the map. It would have been more interesting to see if perhaps Penn grew its presence,, but considering Boyd’s focus is more on locals than Penn’s strategy, the fit seems more correct.
