The New KLM 747
KLM is starting to roll out the new livery on their 747s, and WOW, so sexy. (If you happen to find widebody aircraft “sexy.”)
You can view more great shots of the new KLM 747 livery on the KLM Blog.
The new livery has been described by Lucien Pollard as :
a contemporary interpretation of the 1970’s aesthetics
The thinner mid-rift blue line makes the livery look less weighty and hence conveys a feeling of lightness. It also makes the livery look less formal and conservative
The white at the bottom adds to the lighter feel and also links to the 1970’s aesthetic theme
KLM Flight Facts
I recently noticed KLM flight facts when checking in for a flight. It is a bit of a novel idea of giving a few facts about the aircraft for your upcoming flight. While the facts relate to the overall aircraft type, sometimes the exact aircraft (per the name) is not 100% accurate.
You will notice the link when you view an open reservation at klm.com.
A number of facts about your aircraft and crew are noted. First you are made aware of the aircraft type, and the (supposed) name of the aircraft you will be flying.
This is followed by various other facts, including estimated flight duration.
What follows are more facts, including a 747 comparison to whales in this example. Not sure I would have made that comparison, personally, but it does seem to work.
