The Golden Nugget Atlantic City is currently offering a three month tier match, if you are a new or inactive player and show an elite status card from another local casino. If you renew tier within that 3 months, you can do so at 25% of the tier credits normally required.
Along with that Tier match, new and inactive slot and video poker players are also eligible for an Up to $100 Same Day Free Play offer.
In addition, there are various dates during the month, where tier credits are multiplied, based on your current tier. You can stack these days with the reduced tier credit requirements of a 3 month tier match, to essentially earn tier status for a fraction of the usual play needed. Upgrading to Golden Nugget Elite Status (their highest tier) and playing only on Tiered Tier earning days at 4x Tier, you can earn the status for the year, at one eighth of the normal tier credits required.
From Monday, December 25 to Wednesday, December 27, all 24 Karat Select Club members earn tier at a 3x rate. That’s probably not the most convenient time for most players, but if you’re able to play then, it bumps Premier Members up to the Chairman’s Tiered Tier rate of 3x and gives Chairman Members an extra 3x tier earning period.
Loyalty and Property – Overview
The Atlantic City Golden Nugget doesn’t have decent video poker pay tables. (Well, it does, but at $200 coin in for a Tier Credit!) You also have to go through a host or marketing representative to book a room but I think there are benefits that make it worth achieving status, if you can earn it for drastically reduced play.
The private Chairman’s Club is maintained for Chairman and Elite Members and members are able to enter with up to THREE additional guests! There is a comp dollar charge of $10 per person for Chairman Members but Elite Members get complimentary access.
The lounge is not the nicest in the city but they have a decent variety of food and drink. (Did I mention that you can get up to THREE additional guests in, and that Elite Members get FREE access?) Depending on how often you visit Atlantic City and what your normal bankroll is and if you have a local status that will match to a Golden Nugget tier, free lounge access alone may be worth going for Elite status.
I matched to Elite status with my Caesars Diamond card (obtained through FoundersCard membership) and I am going to play for renewal. You can find 25c video poker machines with between a 97% and 98% pay back and dollar machines close to 99%. Elite Members get 20% more comp dollars and 85% more cash back, which should close the payout gap a little. My rough calculations (very rough, don’t hold me to them) are that it’s $10 coin in per tier credit for less than full pay video poker. I will provide an update if I figure out the numbers.
I’ve been told that the Golden Nugget has good giveaways and although I did not personally receive a mailer yet, those I’ve seen have frequent collection days for bonus free play. WARNING: The Golden Nugget will quickly lock your account, if you collect free play without playing, so if you want to maintain a relationship with them, plan accordingly.
The Golden Nugget also has nice restaurants, though they are a little lacking in the casual department. I’ve eaten at their café, Michael Patrick’s Brasserie, when it was absolutely awful and also when it was decent. (The only reason I went there after having a bad experience was for convenience).
Grotto Italian Ristorante and Vic and Anthony’s are very good, though expensive (each has a Happy Hour, also see the Vic and Anthony’s Happy Hour Menu). You can use your comps at all Landry’s Inc. restaurants nationwide and at other Golden Nugget Casinos, with some restrictions.
In addition to being able to use your comps at other Golden Nugget Casinos, your tier credits accumulate in one universal account, so you have the same status at all Golden Nugget properties. (Though you should go to the 24K Select Club at the beginning of a trip, to make sure your account is set up to play there.) I’m going to Las Vegas in January and will look into the status benefits at the Golden Nugget Las Vegas and will report back. If there are good perks outside of Atlantic City, it may add additional value to this promotion.
The Rush Lounge often has live music and you can sit and listen while playing video poker at the bar and getting your drinks comped.
In conclusion, it’s worth considering, establishing yourself at the Golden Nugget with this Tier Match. As a new or inactive player you may receive additional incentives to increase your action and if you’re able to bump up above your normal bankroll, that may trigger even more perks than you would normally earn with the same play.
In this climate of continuing downgrades, it’s nice to have a less risky option to check out.
