Delta CEO Ed Bastian apologies for outage

Delta Airlines’ global computer systems went down sometime around 4AM EDT this morning. This comes on the heels of Southwest’s outage less than two weeks ago. Delta frequent flyers are posting on Social Media that updates were originally expected at 6:30. We’re hearing that there will be an update at 7:30AM EDT, but some at […]

Delta | Could Medallion Upgrades Potentially be Shifting to Delta Comfort+

Delta | Could Medallion Upgrades Potentially be Shifting to Delta Comfort+

There has been a lot of talk recently about Delta’s focus on the Comfort+ product. Enough to make one wonder about the direction of Delta’s marketing with regard to this product. Big news recently, has been that Comfort+ will begin to have a distinct fare class (starting in May 2016), further differentiating the product. Previously, […]

Air France | NEW à la carte dishes in Business and La Première

In May 2015 Air France announced they would be offering new à la carte dishes in the Business cabin and La Première (first class). This is similar to services offered by other carriers like Singapore Airlines with “Book the Cook.” It is a very nice option to be able to pre-order a meal, though with Air […]

Delta SkyMiles Award Bookings on delta.com, watch the taxes.

We all know that ex-Europe in comparison to ex-USA taxes are much higher when booking Delta SkyMiles award flights.  Sometimes, especially in premium cabins the difference can be quite extreme when originating in Europe. Recently I was working on some China Airlines award reservations. It is also nice to note that you can now easily book […]

Love my KLM Delft Blue Houses. (and Jenever!)

KLM Delft Blue Houses

KLM Delft Blue Houses One of the most unique aspects of flying KLM World Business Class are the KLM Delft Blue Houses (huisjes). You get a chance to collect one, each time you fly KLM World Business Class long-haul. (Also including some “not very long-haul” routes such as AMS-TLV, just not KLM Euro-Business routes.) There is […]

KLM Delays Delivery Of Two Boeing 787-9 (“Dreamliner”) Aircraft

Boeing 787-9

I was looking forward to the KLM 787-9 Inaugural Flight in 2015 . Due to financial issues, KLM will be delaying the delivery of 787s.  As reported by Bloomberg on the 18th of March. (Bloomberg) — Dutch airline KLM delayed the delivery of two Boeing Co. 787 aircraft and shelved plans for a new route to […]

KLM 787-9 (“Dreamliner”) to be introduced in October 2015

According to luchtvaartnieuws, KLM will introduce the 787-9 (“Dreamliner”) in October of 2015. Current data points to a configuration of 294 seats; which is slightly more seating than the current A330s. It is expected that the business class configuration will be a 1-2-1 reverse Herringbone ‘Cirrus’ business class seat, similar to the new AF777 business class […]

Delta US Domestic Upgrades (Medallion and non-Medallion)

Since my concentration is mostly European focused, I do not spend a lot of time concentrating on the Delta domestic upgrade program. My friend Mike just did a nice write up on his blog Frequent Flyer Miles 101. Mike is also “famous,” in my world for predicting that Delta would go to a revenue based […]

La nouvelle cabine La Première and La Première Lounge, the holy grail of SkyTeam Lounges.

La Première Lounge, perhaps one of the best first class airline lounges in the world.  Arguably, the top SkyTeam First Class Lounge.

La Première is the very stylish international first class (IFC) product offered by Air France on select long-haul routes, which includes access to the lounge and ground services at Paris CDG.  While not the best airline hard-product, it is definitely a unique upscale option.

Comparing SkyMiles to Flying Blue (2014 & 2015) Award Miles

SkyMiles prior to the upcoming changes effective 1 January 2015, was superior to FlyingBlue with regard to earning redeemable miles. Both programs have two types of miles, RDMs (Redeemable / Award Miles) and MQMs (Medallion Qualification Miles / Level Miles).  Redeemable (or Award Miles) are the miles one uses to claim frequent flyer award tickets.  Remember, I […]
