Renovated Before Our Very Eyes
The Cosmopolitan and Monte Carlo aren’t the only Las Vegas casino-resorts being renovated before our very eyes. For the past year, Wynn Las Vegas has somewhat quietly updated and upgraded their bars, restaurants, casino, retail outlets, nightclubs, and hotel rooms.
Steve Wynn and company don’t wait for the property to show wear and tear before renovating. The property was first renovated just 5 years after opening. This impressive attention to detail is what makes Wynn Las Vegas one of the premier resorts in the world. When you walk into Wynn Las Vegas today, it may not appear that the property needs renovations. However, Las Vegas moves quickly and businesses can’t, or shouldn’t, wait until they need to make changes.
What makes the renovations at Wynn Las Vegas so impressive is that the updates are done quickly and often seamlessly. Many visitors don’t even realize that their favorite venue has received an upgrade until visiting the property. For example, instead of completely changing the popular XS Nightclub, Wynn Las Vegas invested millions in upgrading the infrastructure of the club way back in late 2015. Wynn Las Vegas saved the big nightclub overhaul for one of their less popular clubs last year and opened Intrigue which has found the different audience the minds at Wynn had envisioned.
Nightlife Changes Only the Beginning at Wynn Las Vegas
Changing nightlife options was only the beginning of the renovations at Wynn Las Vegas. Over the past year the casino will have or will be updating everything from the casino floor to the hotel rooms.
Wynn Las Vegas recently completed a renovation the Parasol Up bar. Construction crews swiftly moved downstairs and are currently working on the Parasol Down bar. Numerous restaurants have either been remodeled, changed menus or have a different identity than they did a few years ago. The biggest update in dining can probably be seen in the buffet where Wynn Las Vegas spent more than $3.5 million on renovations and upgrades.
Last year Wynn Las Vegas refreshed all of the hotel rooms at Encore. This wasn’t a major renovation because it wasn’t needed. The casino operator updated technology and soft goods in some of the nicest hotel rooms in Las Vegas. You may remember that Wynn Las Vegas announced that they would begin installing an Amazon Echo in all rooms. If a casino does a little work often, they won’t have to stop everything for major projects. It’s almost like cleaning your house.
Two years Wynn Las Vegas began changing the casino floor by moving gaming tables around and reducing the odds offered for craps. As 2015 ended Wynn Las Vegas opened the Encore Players Lounge aimed at luring younger gamblers. The changes to the casino floor continued as the poker room moved from the Wynn tower to the Encore tower in 2016. The updates to the casino haven’t ended. The sports book at Wynn Las Vegas will be closed in late April for renovations this summer. It will open in time for the new football season. Once the sports book at Wynn Las Vegas closes a temporary solution will open at Encore.
In 2016, The Ferrari dealership was closed and poker room moved to make way for a new 75,000 square foot shopping plaza. The upscale shopping mall is still under construction and will open before the year is over.
By the time construction finishes on the new shopping plaza, we should know if Wynn Las Vegas will break ground on the proposed Wynn Paradise Park. This addition to the property would add a 38-acre lagoon, hotel tower and more. The footprint of Wynn Las Vegas would change dramatically when work is complete. You can read more about the original plans for Wynn Paradise Park here.
Wynn Las Vegas has been subtly updating the entire property quietly in front of our eyes. The changes aren’t stark so they won’t stand out. The changes may be so fine that you won’t even notice the change the next time you grab a drink at Parasol Up.
