I visited The Mirage for the last time this week, before the Mirage Closing next week. I’ve had so many great memories at The Mirage but those ended before Hard Rock International purchased the casino from MGM Resorts.
The property has felt dark and dingy for the past few years. The Mirage needs some TLC regardless of how it’s done. I’m grateful for the memories and look forward to more at the new Hard Rock Las Vegas in a few years.
It’s odd to me that people are mourning the Mirage closing and that loss instead of replaying the great times they had at The Mirage. I’m not the most positive person in the world but I know when to appreciate the good times.
Anyway, you can see pics and read about my final walkthrough of The Mirage here. Here are a couple of pics from the part of the casino where I spent the most time.
MGM Resorts introduced a drink monitoring system to its video poker bars in 2016. The company first tested this it at The Mirage. I spent a couple of hours testing how it doled out complimentary drinks. It’s a tough job but someone has to do it! Read the article here.

There’s no richer Las Vegas tradition than baking cookies in a car when it’s hot.
The heat bothered me when I moved to Las Vegas but I’ve since learned how to deal with it. Casinos offer air conditioning and covered parking. Both are important and useful for locals looking to get out of their homes for a little while.

It could be just a coincidence but the current owners of Downtown Grand seem to be tightening the screws on gaming to make a few more bucks before they dump the joint. See some info here.
