Hard Rock / Mirage Guitar Stuff
We’ll get to Hot Noods in a moment, but first…..the sale of The Mirage to Hard Rock started in 2021 and was closed in 2022. In May 2024, the company finally announced its timeline to close, renovate and reopen. Read the press release here.
I love that Hard Rock is closing The Mirage in July and will reopen as an entirely new property in a few years. I’m not a fan of watching the day-to-day transition of a casino from one concept to another. Watching Monte Carlo slowly become Park MGM wasn’t fun for someone visiting the property weekly at the time.
I’m not going to dive too deep here since we’ve been discussing Hard Rock’s plans for The Mirage since 2022. You can read and see the initial plans here.
There was one bit of news from Hard Rock. The new casino will officially be named “Hard Rock Hotel & Casino and Guitar Hotel Las Vegas” or HRHCGHLV for short. Good luck with that.
Coincidence or not, Hard Rock recently dropped a new ad campaign for its rewards program. You’ll be able to use your Unity Rewards points at Hard Rock Café on the Vegas Strip after The Mirage closes. Read more here.
Cosmo Stuff
The Cosmopolitan might look different the next time you visit. It seems as though the table games that are never used near The Barbershop and Henry are being removed. Also, it looks like the shrinking bank of video poker games near Clique is also going away. See the tweet here.
Let’s Bring on the Hot Noods!
El Cortez is renovating again. Read more here.
My takeaway from the El Cortez news is that too many people are sleeping on the “Hot Noods by Chinglish” opening next year.
After sharing the information I had to visit the original Chinglish. The kosher side was closed as we visited on Saturday. See a few pics outside the restaurant(s) here.
I get news from Fontainebleau almost every day. It would be annoying if some of the info wasn’t useful. For example, the casino revealed “Taste of Fontainebleau” with prix fixe menus at a slew of restaurants. Surprisingly, the prices aren’t crazy. See the menus here.
Fontainebleau is running a summer promotion for guests dining or drinking at the property to receive valet validation. Read more here.
Wynn reported first-quarter earnings. The news about Las Vegas developments was minimal. Read more here.
Wynn did release new information about its upcoming Al Marjan Island project. Read and see more here.
You might have heard that Mohegan Sun is leaving Virgin Hotels Las Vegas. If not, read more here.
Mohegan shared more about the departure in its earnings report. Search “Vegas” here.
Red Rock Resorts (Station Casinos) also reported earnings. Read more here.
A couple of notes from the earnings call: 1) There should be news about Durango expanding later this year 2) The company could be buying local taverns to expand its footprint. Think of this similar to Golden Entertainment owning PT’s Taverns. We should hear more about this soon.
The company also touted renovations at existing properties. This drone through the new sportsbook at Sunset Station is sweet.

Introducing the all-new STN Sportsbook at Sunset Station, a sports destination that must be seen to be believed.

I rarely play blackjack but it was disappointing to see Durango install CSMs at some of the tables. I don’t expect they’ll last long. If they do survive expect to see the machines installed at other Station Casino properties.
https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.jsNewly installed continuous shuffler machines (CSM) at 6D shoe games at Durango. Not sure if this is for all Stations properties. For a locals casino, very disappointing. @MeltzVegas pic.twitter.com/W60hVHrn4A

Shania is back in Las Vegas! Read about her new residency here.
The newspaper saw a tweet about Sahara charging for parking. The newspaper of record in Nevada did some digging and revealed nothing. Surprise! Read more here.
This thing is hideous but I love the Circa promotion to win a Tesla Cybertruck. You can see it below.
Keith Urban is taking his limited engagement north to Fontainebleau. Read more here.
Picasso at Bellagio is closing. Read more here.
Slot Machine hold increasing in downtown Las Vegas is old news but it’s making the rounds again. It’s still interesting to see that downtown Las Vegas slot machines have held more by percentage than those on the Vegas Strip for a few years. See the report here.
Holsteins at The Cosmopolitan is closing as MGM Resorts continues the refresh the property. Read the news from a month ago at Vital Vegas here.
Rumors about the Eagles playing shows at The Sphere continue. Read more here.
Last and least, this week I learned that there’s a pet comedy show with a miniature horse at Planet Hollywood. Learn more here.
That’s it. What are your thoughts? Would you try Hot Noods when it opens? Let us know in the comments or wherever you see this.
