Vegas News | Summer Deals, Fireworks, And Downtown Butts

Vegas News Update - TravelZork Vegas News

The first order of business is the July Fourth weekend.

Seven casinos are shooting July Fourth fireworks this year:

  • Caesars Palace
  • Durango
  • Green Valley Ranch
  • M Resort
  • Plaza
  • Red Rock
  • Resorts World

You can watch for free or pay for VIP at each property. The LVCVA has an overview of things to do July Fourth weekend here.

I’ve been mentioning that just about every casino has a discount this summer. You should be receiving a comp or deep discount unless it’s the July Fourth holiday weekend. Resorts World dumped parking and resort fees. You can read about it here.

The Revelry culinary event is returning to Wynn from Sept. 19-27 for the second year. While there is an outdoor food festival one night, there are special events throughout, including a Four Sixes Ranch Cookout, Postcards from the Mediterranean, and an All-Star Chefs Dinner at Delilah. You can find much more information here.

It looks like Kenny Chesney is returning to the Sphere next year. Read more here

Good news: Dolly Parton is doing a slew of shows at Caesars Palace later this year. Read more here.

Bad news: The shows sold out in a few hours. Sad Trombone.

Circa is doing a watch party for the Love Island finale at Stadium Swim. I’m not into the show but know many who are and love it when casinos host non-traditional events like this.

The Friends Experience opens at MGM Grand on July 23. It looks like a place to take pics for people who still use Facebook as their main social media app. Get the details here.

The A’s held a groundbreaking ceremony for the MLB stadium this week. The funniest thing I read about this was that they rented construction equipment. You can read more about the event here

Groundbreaking ceremonies are events. They don’t mean construction is actually starting. I wrote about some of these functions from the past decade or so here

I was doing research on groundbreakings and saw that the Majestic Hotel had new renderings and plans. Vital Vegas has all the info you could want.

Adam Sandler is closing his tour at Fontainebleau. Read more here.

Sandler has been performing at the Cosmopolitan for years. I’m always fascinated when performers switch venues in Las Vegas. There seems to be a strange loyalty that could also just be the venue paying the best.

The Wizard of Oz show at the Sphere opens in a couple of months. See below and get more info here

The Hall of Excellence is now open at Fontainebleau. There’s some neat stuff in here if you’re into memorabilia. Get more info here

Bottled Blonde in front of Horseshoe is finally open. Get the scoop here.

Props to Rio for taking the promo booze gift game to a higher level. While most casinos give away $10 bottles of wine, Rio is giving away $25 bottles. See the info here.

You can now access your room key at Resorts World through your Apple Wallet. Read more here.

Tilman Fertitta is the largest shareholder of Wynn Resorts. He’s unhappy. Read why here

Speaking of Fertitta, the land where he was going to build a new casino on the Vegas Strip is now a parking lot. I’d rather see a casino, but it’s better than just being another vacant lot serving no purpose. Also, you love parking.

Casino earnings season is almost here. Red Rock Resorts (Station Casinos) will report on July 29, and MGM will report on July 30. More reporting dates will be announced shortly. I don’t expect too much on the development side, but we should get a better picture of the “Vegas is dead” economy.

The smoke-free slot room at Plaza no longer has BC Slots branding. See pics here.

There could be a new sportsbook operator in Nevada. We’ll learn more next month, but more competition is usually a good thing for the consumer. Read more here

Netflix house will be opening at the mall across the street from Aria in 2027. Get the details here.

A theater in downtown Las Vegas that has closed three times is reopening as a live performance venue. Good luck! Read about it here.

ComplexCon is returning to the Las Vegas Convention Center in October. Read about it here

There’s a new horror-themed coffee shop across the street from Virgin.

It’s a slow news week, let’s dig into some locals promotions:

  • Circus Circus has a family pass for locals this summer. Read more here.
  • The Strat has promotions for locals. Get the scoop here.
  • Resorts World has been offering 20% off dining for locals at most restaurants since last year.
  • In case you missed it, the LVCVA has a list of staycation deals here.

The Orleans is hosting a ping pong event for 10 days. Seriously. Read more here

Random observation: When I first started visiting Las Vegas, Baby Boomers were the old generation. It seems like Gen X (my generation) is taking over as the older affluent generation that Las Vegas is focused on. Floating around my head are New Kids, Backstreet, and Friends. There are at least a few others, but I find this interesting.

“Get your butt to Circa” might be the best tagline in 2025. The Crazy Girls statue, originally at the Riviera, then Planet Hollywood, is now at Circa.

Marc grew up on the mean streets of the South Bronx. He's the rare combination of Yankees and Jets fan which explains his often contrarian point of view. He learned about gambling at a young age working down the street from a bookie who took action on anything from the mainstream sports to the last three digits of the purse for certain horse races. Yeah, that's a thing. Today Marc is a freelance writer and social media consultant which allows him to work anywhere there's a wifi signal. This allows him to work from the sportsbook at Red Rock Resort or the food court at The Venetian where you’ll find fast and free wifi. Writing about steak, booze, gambling and Las Vegas is a tough job but somebody has to do it.
