Wynn Palace

It’s no big news that Wynn, with the wild success of both Wynn Macau and it’s expanded offerings with the addition of the Encore tower, has been digging in deeper into the gaming and hospitality offerings in Macau. And with the addition of new properties along the now booming Cotai strip, it was difficult for Wynn to keep his plans for his parcel under wraps. So hard in fact that he didn’t even try to hide the design during a video interview he gave for an awards gala, with the initial design rendering clearly hanging in the background. But that was then, and this is now, and with word that the resort which had hoped for an early opening in March will go back to its original date in June, the picture of what exactly Wynn Cotai, now officially known as Wynn Palace, will be in focus and from what is in the offering, it’s going to be even more lavish than we’d imagined.

The $4 billion dollar property is setup much like a combination of Wynn, Mirage, and Bellagio, with a dual sided performance lake along the frontage, surrounded and traversed by “Sky Cabs” designed to look like smoke-breathing dragons ferrying passengers through the lake’s airspace and to the resort itself. The original curved tower is gone, replaced by an elongated X design clad in signature Wynn bronze and gold, with a club pool on top of the front podium, and convention space in the back.

With 1700 rooms and suites, it will be Wynn’s largest property in China to date, and although we have no solid pictures or renderings of what the interior or rooms will look like, considering the evolutionary nature of the building’s exterior, and the thoughts evoked by the name itself, this hotel is sure to up Wynn’s luxury offerings even further than before.

And that’s not where things will stop. Wynn has already planned for the expansion of the resort before the doors are even opening, doubling down on the popular response the new resort is sure to get. The expansion, planned to debut sometime in the next few years, will join the two resorts with a performance arena and event space. And as if the name Palace wasn’t enough, the name of the expansion shouldn’t be a surprise, being referred to already as Wynn Diamond, a moniker originally given to the Encore tower at Wynn Macau. And considering how Wynn Palace is shaping up so far, Diamond will be even more spectacular and make Wynn the luxury destination on the Cotai strip.
