The Atlantic City Airshow – “Thunder over the Boardwalk” – is always the highlight of the summer, and this year’s show Aug. 22 should prove no different. The show is free, but a private VIP Watch Party from Boardwalk Hall’s second story loggia is being hosted by Spectra, operators of Boardwalk Hall and the Atlantic City Convention Center.

The event, which includes a free parking spot per purchase order, will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., with doors opening at 10 a.m. This year’s Atlantic City Airshow party also will include lunch, complimentary Coca-Cola soft drinks and bottled water, and access to Boardwalk Hall’s private restrooms, as well as corresponding audio to go along with the viewing. Wine down

Free concerts

7 Bridges will perform Aug. 2 on the beach in front of Resorts Casino Hotel. Rubix Kube, originally scheduled to perform last month, but got rained out, has been rescheduled for Aug. 15. The concerts begin at 7 pm. and a pre-party on the beach starts at 5 p.m.

Pub-lic celebration

Help Philadelphia chef Michael Schulson celebrate 10 years since his first restaurant, Izakaya Modern Japanese Pub, made its Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa debut. The evening begins at 7 p.m. Aug. 3 with inventive sake cocktails and a signature dinner complete with Japanese BBQ specialties, comfort foods and sushi. Deckstock – Take a free trip back to the Woodstock era Aug. 11 at the Golden Nugget Atlantic City. Fans can join the psychedelic fun as Deckstock takes them through a live musical journey as impersonators and Groovin’ the Woodstock Era Experience reproduce the sounds that rocked 400,000+ Woodstock attendees in 1969.

Fight night

The Pro Fight League (PFL) will host the first two events to be held in Ovation Hall at Ocean Resort Casino on Aug. 16 and Aug. 30. Tickets for these final two matches of the PFL regular season are on sale at Ticketmaster.com or by calling (800) 745-3000.

Taste treat

More than 25 restaurants, bars and eateries will team up for the annual Taste of The Quarter Aug. 20 at Tropicana Atlantic City. Fuels rush in

Rocktane, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City’s 24-hour gas station, is open with 16 gas pumps and a 5,100-square-foot convenience store. It’s located outside the casino’s parking garage between Maryland and Virginia Avenues.

Plus size model

Resorts has added another tier level to its Star card player loyalty program. Perhaps recognizing the large gap between its Paramount and Red Carpet levels – Paramount cardholders must earn 600 tier points in a 12-month period; Red Carpet cardholders must earn 2,500 – Paramount Plus cardholders must earn 1,250. Additional benefits include complimentary players club admission Sunday through Friday and the option of using comp dollars to pay any room fees.

Plays well with others

Subject to approval by New Jersey gaming regulators, look for a one-of-a-kind multi-camera Dual Play Roulette table at Resorts. The set-up will allow on-premise customers to play alongside online gamblers. The installation will be the first outside Europe, its first installation in the United States and also the first to feature American (double zero) roulette. The table will be a five-camera installation with a customized rig and large screens that feature live-streamed game feed from the table.

Free parking

Premiere cardholders who earn two tier points during a gaming day park free in the self-park garage at Resorts. Check any promotional kiosk to confirm the points and present a valid Star card at the exit.

Match game

Most Atlantic City casinos are offering to match a competing Atlantic City casino’s player loyalty club card. For example, Hard Rock will upgrade Total Rewards Seven Stars and Diamond cardholders to its Wild Card Rock Royalty card. Click here to check your card level at your favorite casino(s) to see which other casino(s) will match your level with theirs. If your card isn’t on the list, visit the casinos’ websites or ask at the players card desk about other eligible casino cards, when the promotions expire, and other restrictions. Note that, in addition to its player card match, Ocean Resort will give $100 in free play and two complimentary room nights to its new Black cardholders, $50 in free play and one night to its new Platinum cardholders, $25 in free play to its new Gold cardholders, and $15 in free play to its new Blue cardholders. The room night offers are good through Aug. 30; the match, Sept. 30. Also, Golden Nugget has extended its tier match and upgrade program through Sept. 3.
