Find the best Video Poker – Atlantic City
It has been difficult to find full pay (“good” pay tables) video poker in Atlantic City for some time now. It is even harder to maintain a good casino average with just video poker play, but there are still opportunities. I have been on a quest to find and play only the highest returning video poker for 14 years now, so I thought I’d make a list of the best video poker in Atlantic City.
A list would not be complete without a few caveats. You have to consider slot club earnings for video poker if you are interested in earning comps or getting the most benefit from your play. The earn rates for video poker have been steadily declining, along with the pay tables. You don’t want to invest time and bankroll into a situation where you are no better off than you would be if you played the highest returning slot machines.
Also, please note that this list of the best video poker in Atlantic City focuses on lower denomination machines. Most players do not have the bankroll necessary for high denomination machines (such as $5, which would be $25 per spin for single-line video poker).
New to Video Poker?
If you are new to video poker, you want to stick with as high of a pay table that you can find for Jacks or Better (JoB) or Bonus Poker (BP). Yes, you can sometimes find decent pay tables for riskier games (games where the payouts are weighted towards hands that happen less frequently) but you are going to lose more over time.

Borgata Atlantic City
The Borgata Casino Atlantic City is the best place to play video poker in Atlantic City. They have the only 9/6 Jacks or Better (JoB) where you earn the standard video poker rates down to quarters. Most of the machines are located at the B Bar—a bar that will comp you some top shelf for playing 9/6 JoB at $1.25 a hand!
Resorts Casino Atlantic City
Resorts has 8/5 BP down to quarters. I don’t play there, but they have traditionally been generous with comps, though you have to play a lot of VP to earn.
Caesars Properties in Atlantic City (Harrah’s, Caesars and Bally’s)
The 3 Caesars Properties in Atlantic City (Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City, Caesars Atlantic City Hotel and Casino and Bally’s Atlantic City) all have some 9/6 Jack or Better (JoB) but it is $20 a point at dollars and $50 a point at quarters. This is a miniscule earning rate AND will trash your theoretical. Caesars has a 25c Progressive JoB bank, where you don’t have to put your slot card in to order drinks <Winky, Winky>
Golden Nugget Atlantic City
There are a few 9/6 JoB machines in the high limit room at the Golden Nugget Atlantic City starting at dollars but it earns at $200 a point. The best video poker on the main floor is 9/5 JoB and 9/6 Double Double Bonus at dollars. The Golden Nugget is more generous when you earn status, so if you have a bigger bankroll and like the property, you get a lot once you’re established there. The Rush Bar, where you can sit and listen to live bands while playing video poker and earning top shelf drinks is a nice lifestyle play.
Tropicana Atlantic City
The Tropicana doesn’t have much in the way of good video poker, especially now that the ancient 5 Joker Progressive machines are dark. (I’m not sure if they are moving them out completely or moving them somewhere else in the casino.) There’s a few 9/5 JoB machines in dollars in the high limit area, but dollars on the floor are 8/5.
Ocean Casino Resort
Ocean Casino Resort has 9/6 JoB in dollars, with a shorted (239 coin) straight flush in the high limit room. All the dollar JoB on the main floor is 9/5 (not too bad). Dollars are a little rich for my blood, especially at shorted pay tables so I don’t know the earn rates. Ocean Casino also has Dreamcard down to nickels. No, it’s not full pay video poker, but, but, Dreaaaamcard!
Hard Rock Atlantic City
The best video poker at the Hard Rock Atlantic City is 9/5 JoB in dollars, though they have this at all the bars. You must play with a slot card to earn comped drinks at the Hard Rock on the floor or at the bars (where they swipe your card). One benefit of Rock Royalty status is that if you are playing, your companion also gets comped drinks. This is nice if you play at one of the bars when they have live entertainment (if you can get a seat).
