Exciting Rewards for British Airways New Parents (Maternity – Paternity – Adoption)
British Airways has been rolling out a numerous enhancements for premium travellers over the past few months. Many of these enhancements focus on BAEC Gold (British Airways Executive Club Gold) and premium passengers. This one really caught my attention. Now, British Airways new parents who are flying less due to maternity, paternity or adoption leave can put their account on hold for a year, protecting elite (BAEC Bronze-Silver-Gold) status. They even created a baby@ email address, and an Avios bonus when you add the new kid to your BAEC Household Account. This was part of the announcement that included details about free seat reservations for Basic (Hand Baggage Only) fares and the British Airways Avios eStore. It is always refreshing to see a parent-friendly benefit by a major global airline. But, this does make one wonder about the irony of British Airways discontinuing UM (Unaccompanied Minor) services with little conversation in 2016.
