Borgata Mlife Data Points – June 27th, 2017
The transition from My Borgata Rewards to Mlife isn’t going as well as I thought it was. Last week, there were no elite lines at the Mlife desk and no signs to indicate why this was so. When I got to the front of the line, I had so many questions to ask (with a long line behind me) that I didn’t add this to the list.
My Tier Credits and Point are not available online and were not available at the Mlife desk either. They said they are working on this. I heard a lot of complaining in line, so I know that account information is not completely accurate for everybody, at this point.

I did confirm a few things though:
1 Express Comp is ALWAYS going to be worth 75 Tier Credits
I asked them to confirm this multiple times. It’s confusing because you must earn a minimum of $5 in Express Comps to earn any comps at all, but you earn Tier Credit for all your play.
Although related, Tier Credits are calculated separately from Express Comps, Points and Slot Dollars
Although 1 Express Comp is always going to be worth 75 Tier Credits, how exactly you earn that 1 Express Comp can vary. Based on the information I have so far, it seems like Express Comps for video poker are earned at a $0.2 rate, which is the same as the comp earning rate through My Borgata Rewards.
1 Express Comp/.2% = $500 coin in = 75 Tier Credits
$500 coin in/75 Tier = $6.67 video poker coin in, per Tier Credit
The Mlife desk told me that it takes between $100 to $200 coin in to earn a Tier Credit for Slots and between $200 and $300 coin in to earn a Tier Credit for video poker, but this does not make sense, when I run the numbers, which correlate with my actual Express Comp earn rates. So, my numbers are speculation, until my cumulative Tier Credits are made available.
Only POINTS are subject to the Tier Multiplier, not Express Comps
This makes the Tier Multiplier, which is an additional benefit that Mlife adds to the Borgata, negligible. This is because the multiplier will only act on Points, which are earned at one tenth the rate of Express Comps.
1 Express Comp/.2% = $500 coin in = 75 Tier Credits = 10 Points = 10 cents
Pearl – 10% Bonus = 10 cents x 10% = .01
Gold – 20% Bonus = 10 cents x 20% = .02
Platinum – 30% Bonus = 10 cents x 30% = .03
Noir – 40% Bonus = 10 cents x 40% = .04
That’s right. For every $500 coin in on video poker, the Tier Multiplier would add a few cents worth of Points.
Playing video poker to renew Gold Status for the estimated $500,000 coin in, you would earn $1000 in comps, $400 in Slot Dollars, $100 in Points and an additional $20 in point value for the Tier Multiplier. Woohoo!
If my numbers are confirmed, the Mlife program at Borgata is almost exactly the same as My Borgata Rewards, although there is a slight increase in benefits for Tier Status:
The Tier Multiplier
Extension of Comp Expiration for Tier
Pearl Status gets free parking, which only started with Black Label status in My Borgata Rewards (which is equivalent to Gold Status in Mlife.)
The extra benefits for Platinum Status, don’t seem to be worth the extra play, but no matter what Tier Level you achieve, perks are going to be awarded on your theo anyway.
It seems to me that the biggest perk of the program switch is being able to take advantage of more generous Tier perks at different Mlife properties, if you routinely travel outside Atlantic City. Though, at least from a video poker pay table perspective, especially at the 25c level, the pay tables at the Borgata are better than anywhere else in the Mlife family.
One last thing that I’d like to note is the fact that the tier status you had when My Borgata Rewards converted to Mlife, on June 7 is being extended to Sept 30, 2018, BUT, your tier goes to zero on October 1 this year. You still have only 12 months to renew your Tier level, which would start Oct 1, 2019.
I received Gold Status which will extend to Sept 30, 2018, with a Tier Match (via Caesars Diamond) through FoundersCard. I do not have a good rating at the Borgata right now, so why should I give them ANY play until Oct 1? Anything earned from now until Sept 30 will be applied towards a tier status, which is already locked in. I might as well take it easy until Oct 1, when hopefully the program will be completely transparent and I can assess whether or not it’s worth it for me to renew my status and work on my rating at the same time.
