Miles, Points and Travel “Habiliments” | Weekly Round Up
12th January 2017
Each week When I get a free moment, I sift through posts, blogs, PR, hyperbole and rumors, and share some of the best Miles, Points and Travel stuff. Think of this as an extension of your travel “habiliments.” (Or, just maybe, someone bet me $100 I wouldn’t be able to work the word habiliment into a blog post this week… maybe..)
Crazy? Ah, Yes. “Smok’in”
File this under, never EVER believe drunks. Why? Because they are drunk.
Snow and his girlfriend were only allowed on the flight after they agreed to not drink any alcohol as they were already drunk when they tried to board.
Heck, I can barely board a flight with an oversized carry-on bag. Perhaps, this is one more reason why I avoid economy class.
You really can not make this stuff up :
Jonah Cayle Snow allegedly bit the flight attendant’s ear after being told to put out a cigarette and stop drinking on Wednesday as they were flying from Amsterdam to San Francisco.
Check it out for yourself, including the requisite “degenerate” FaceBook photos.
Ground Transfer Service “Re-Defined”
Mention Cairo and ground transfers and you are likely to have a story. “Lucky” has the best inflight service reviews, and this transfer story is also one of his best narratives. “The Most Premium Yet Back-Alley Airport Transit Ever,” need I even say more? Be sure to check it out.
Avios Obsessed?
Yes, I am a “bit” Avios obsessed lately. I even had a hard time not pulling the “trigger” on British Airways First the other day (damn taxes). Drew’s recent article “5 Tips Before You Use Your British Airways Avios” is awesome and includes lots of helpful charts.
Oh, and let’s not forget my friends at InsideFlyer UK (rumor has it they think I have a “cute” American Accent). Joe gives some great advice on business class awards from Europe to the USA West Coast. 15,000 Avios? No way? Yep, be sure to check out : “HOW TO BOOK BA BUSINESS CLASS FOR LESS – EG. RETURN TO WEST COAST USA FOR 15,000 AVIOS (NET) + £550.”
I Am Just Gonna Leave This Here
How Did You Spend Your New Year’s Eve?
A great review by John. If you haven’t be sure to check out his site, one of the best. Also, 2017 will be the year I find John a wife. Perhaps, this should be the new TravelZork contest?

Sam Chui has one of the most fantastic and “AvGeeky” airline flight video reviews I have ever seen. Of course, this is not just a review of “normal” First Class but a full review of The Residence on Etihad. If you haven’t had a chance, be sure to check it out. You will not be disappointed.
I guess, we can file this under negative #PaxEx : “Smaller Bathrooms on Planes Pose Challenges for Passengers.”

Coming Soon : UNDER $99 from Boston to London, a Review (WOW!, well, not WOW, but DY)
Dates are still available to fly Norwegian to/from Boston-Logan and London-Gatwick at a great price. The great thing about these fares is that they are completely bookable as one-way tickets. So, you can combine a $99’ish DY (Norwegian) fare with a frequent flyer award ticket or another airline’s promotional fare. It is also an exceptional way to fly one-way from the USA to Europe to position for an inexpensive ex-EU business class fare “deal.” The Boston flight is also super-convenient with a late departure out of Boston. But, remember there are a few things that one has to do to ensure you don’t pay EXTRA and actually fly for $99’ish. One of our TravelZork Experts “Guinea Pigs” will be testing and sharing practical advice. (Update 29 January 2016 : Norwegian to London | 99 Bucks, a Backpack, and a Dreamliner.)
