Did you know that Derek Stevens is a billionaire? I never thought about it, but that’s something I learned last week. The article doesn’t have much new information, but it is a good overview for anyone not familiar with the downtown Las Vegas casino operator. Read the Forbes article here.

I had a few minutes with Stevens before the Forbes interview dropped. He shared some info on the success of The Night Starts Here and the upcoming expansion at Golden Gate. Get the info here

The Planet Hollywood poker room, hidden on the second floor near nothing, is closing less than a year after opening. Nobody should be surprised. Read more here.

The A’s dropped a drone video of the stadium construction site where the Tropicana once stood.

The Bally’s plan to replace Tropicana is still a joke and might be finished by 2030. I’m not sure if this is a parody, but it looks like one. If nothing else, whoever buys the rights to build here will have plans to work with. Read it here

Speaking of things that may be happening, I put together a list of shows, sports, and casino updates that haven’t been canceled yet here

Blake Shelton added eight more shows to his Caesars Palace residency. Get the dates and more info here.

Resorts World has a Macallan experience in February. Details were sparse, so I did some digging. As you’d imagine with Macallan, it’s not cheap, but it will be delicious. First, read about the event here and see the prices here.

You may remember I went to a Macallan tasting at Rio’s wine cellar almost a year ago. I had a blast, and Rio is still doing regular wine and spirit tastings if you plan on visiting. You read here.

There’s a new Vegas movie in the works called “Vegas: A Love Story.” I’m not much of a movie person, but the description does not sound interesting, even though I actually recognize some of the names performing. Get the info here

I imagine the snarksters on Twitter would say that MGM will begin to charge a solar power fee soon. Read why here.

Here’s your first downtown Boring update!

IGT is celebrating Wheel of Fortune slots’ 30th anniversary. This is the first slot machine that I actually remember. I saw others, but the machine yelling WHEEL OF FORTUNE was the BUFFALOOOOOOOOOO of my youth. The press release has marketing and random info about the game. Read more here

Corner Store is replacing Blue Ribbon at The Cosmo. I heard someone mention the NYC location on a podcast about an hour before this was announced. For what it’s worth, the guy with hit-or-miss opinions loves it. Read more here

Some of you are aware of the Five Guys at The Venetian from Vegas News, the ZorkFest dinner, or tales of Movestro getting lost looking for it. Either way, it’s the flagship location for the company. Read more here.

The LVCVA put together a big list of things to do on Super Bowl weekend in Las Vegas. There’s a laundry list of places to watch the game and other entertainment during the weekend. Get the details here

I weened through all of the options to watch the Super Bowl in Vegas and shared info on unique locations and events from free to 5-figures. It’s amazing how so many people are outraged over prices, but also don’t care about the cheap or free options. Anyway, check it out here.

Room rates for the game are all over the place, but Sahara’s price on Expedia takes the cake. See the tweet here.

Outside of Vegas, there will be an East Coast Sphere coming to MD.

Last year I wrote about Sphere expanding with different-sized venues and how the company was crawling out of its initial losses. Read it here.

Harry Styles was rumored to have a residency at the Sphere. He’s staying with the same company but performing 30 shows in NYC. One reason could be the huge expense of producing the visuals for the Sphere. Read more here

It’s the LVCVA’s job to put a positive twist on visitation data. Get the spin here

Gold Coast has a few restaurants opening soon. If you follow me on the socials, you’ve seen pics of the signs. Now we have more info here.

I shared news a few weeks ago about the MGM Slam tennis event at T-Mobile Arena. If you like tennis but don’t want to visit Vegas for random exhibition matches, you can watch it on TV. Get details on the game and TV airtimes here

I’m waist-deep into Super Bowl parties, so I haven’t done much research on March Madness, but I do know that Hops and Hoops is returning to the Cosmopolitan, and it will cost almost $400 per day. Read more here

Resorts World also dropped its March Madness events. There are plenty of options. Read more here.

Marc grew up on the mean streets of the South Bronx. He's the rare combination of Yankees and Jets fan which explains his often contrarian point of view. He learned about gambling at a young age working down the street from a bookie who took action on anything from the mainstream sports to the last three digits of the purse for certain horse races. Yeah, that's a thing. Today Marc is a freelance writer and social media consultant which allows him to work anywhere there's a wifi signal. This allows him to work from the sportsbook at Red Rock Resort or the food court at The Venetian where you’ll find fast and free wifi. Writing about steak, booze, gambling and Las Vegas is a tough job but somebody has to do it.
