Vegas News April 5th 2024
Before we get to the Suncoast Renovating, let’s dive into Poolside Blackjack at Fontainebleu. The six blackjack games at the Fontainebleau pool are now open. I’m working on an article about all outdoor gambling in Las Vegas that should be out soon. There will be more info soon.
Suncoast is Renovating
- The Suncoast is undergoing a major multi-year renovation. Read more here.
- The entire casino floor will be reconfigured. The sportsbook is moving to the theater. The bingo hall is moving to the sportsbook space next year. Here are a couple of renderings of the sportsbook. I dig it.
- A cynic might say that Suncoast removed the best video poker games to help pay for the renovations.
- Removing a few good machines won’t help too much but it’s fun to link the two things that happened during the same week. See more here.
New Bellagio Conservatory Display
The new Bellagio Botanical Gardens & Conservatory display might be pretty but it’s not for me.

I’m only a tea party guy on special occasions.
Tropicana Has Closed
Tropicana is now closed for good and it looks like it will be imploded. Read more here.
Much like most casinos built before The Mirage, the Tropicana didn’t mean much to me. I can recall three visits. The first time was playing tic-tac-toe with a chicken, the second was a PR event for the opening of a sportsbook that was closed to make room for Robert Irvine’s restaurant. The last was for the opening of the Nikki Beach pool complex which changed names about five times. That’s it.
There’s a re-lit Tropicana sign at the Neon Museum.
