We’re going to highlight different ZorkFest 2024 experiences over the next couple of months. ZorkFest packs a lot into just a few days in Las Vegas and there’s plenty to explore. Attendees can learn the basics of smart gambling, have drinks and dinner with other attendees, and much more. While there’s plenty of fun, the magic of ZorkFest is in the education track.
There’s something for everyone during the seminars. I’ve attended two ZorkFests and these have been the highlight along with meeting people I know from the socials IRL.
I’ve been gambling since elementary school and visiting casinos since I was 21. I know that world pretty well but I don’t know everything. Even hearing a different point of view can be helpful.
I always find it to be nice to learn something about a topic I think I know almost everything about. Truthfully, nobody knows everything and ZorkFest is a good reminder.
It’s always good to learn new tips on casino rewards. I’ve been in that world for so long that it doesn’t happen often.
Before ZorkFest non-casino rewards were barely a blip on my radar. Retail discounts, cashback, and rewards were just a perk. ZorkFest helped me connect that the things I knew from the casino world could also be used in everyday life.
Like I said, non-casino rewards were barely on my radar before my first ZorkFest. While I still don’t obsess over rewards like many of the speakers at ZorkFest, I’m much more cognizant of how and where I spend my money.
Sure, I’ve had fun at ZorkFest, but I learned things from the seminars that either never crossed my mind. I still use what I’ve learned about rewards regularly.
This is what ZorkFest is all about for me. It’s been great to see others able to maximize their spending inside and outside of casinos.
ZorkFest Presenters
The speakers at ZorkFest 2024 should be able to continue the fabulous tradition of helping attendees get the most bang for their buck. There will be a lot of smart people sharing their wisdom. I’ll highlight a few that have helped me over the years.
Anthony Curtis (AC)
You may know AC from numerous TV appearances as a gambling expert over the years or from being the founder of Las Vegas Advisor (LVA).
I first learned about AC’s prowess in gambling before moving to Las Vegas. What I didn’t know is that he knows much more than how to play blackjack.
His knowledge goes deep into the casino biz. AC understands the casino business from all sides of the fence from understanding the corporations to playing the games or grabbing a drink or meal.
One of his best qualities is that he’s always out experiencing Las Vegas so he has first-hand knowledge. I run into AC more than most people in Las Vegas.
It’s much easier for me to trust the opinion of someone with first-hand knowledge of a game, food, or drink.
AC can explain everything about the casino life from which casino is fair to customers to which gaming tavern has the best deals. I’m pretty sure he’s the only person other than me who knows where to get Macallan for less than $10 a pour.
Gary Leff
Michael and TravelZork opened my eyes to a whole world of people outside of the casino world that can help maximize how and where to spend my money when traveling and in everyday life. Gary Leff is one of those people.
He may be known mostly as an air travel person. However, I find him to be a great resource for a lot of non-casino point and miles news and information.
His TwitterX account is a great follow just to keep up on the news. Unlike some in the travel space, he has opinions and points of view from the customer side.
His website, View From The Wing, offers more useful information that is easy for someone new to non-casino points and miles to understand. The last point was important to me when I was first trying to understand how rewards work outside of a casino.
David Grossman
I have a lot of similar feelings about David Grossman from Miles Talk as I do Gary Leff. There’s one major difference between the two.
In addition to general travel information, David sometimes dives deep into casino rewards. He goes further into topics and offers greater detail than I could ever imagine.
In general, I’m the kind of person who just wants a cheat sheet of information. That’s how I read and how I write. For better or worse, I’m not always a great teacher.
David goes about 10 steps further than I could when explaining everything in the rewards space. When trying to learn about new topics I find comfort in reading information that is very detailed, organized, and easy to understand.
He’s like this in person and in his words and it’s helped me learn about both casino and non-casino rewards.
It’s nice to have resources that can offer the best of different worlds at an event like ZorkFest 2024.
Wait…There’s More!
Like I said, I’ll just be highlighting some of what you’ll find at ZorkFest 2024 over the next couple of months. There will be even more seminars with other insightful members of the casino, gambling, and travel communities.
You’ll also hear from the following presenters:
- Adam Bauer with Travel Fanboy
- Ben Komenkul with Ben’s Big Deal
- Carissa Rawson with Upgraded Points
- Justin Vacula with Hurdy Gurdy Travel
- Julia Menez (GeoBreeze Travel)
- Josh Duffy (Crap Vegas)
There will be plenty of time to meet and greet these presenters, podcasters, and other people in the community you may only know online. This is a good chance to eat, drink, and gamble IRL with people you know online.
