Dolce Mare at Ocean Casino Resort
Excellent
Dolce Mare, located in the Ocean Casino Resort is excellent! I have been there multiple times and hope to go back again and again. It is a fine dining modern Italian restaurant in Atlantic City and has prices to go along with that. Unlike some other restaurants in Atlantic City, I believe it is priced reasonably for what you get.
Cocktails!
I had the perfect cocktail at Dolce Mare. The Palermo Old Fashioned is made with Bulleit Rye, Amaro Nonino and vanilla syrup. I took one sip and I was like, “I am just going to enjoy this cocktail. I may never get this again, even if I order the same thing.” It is boozy but smooth and balanced. The next time I had it, it wasn’t as good as the first time, but the third time, it was just right again. I need to note the time and ask who the bartender is, or just learn to make it myself!
Appetizers
The generous portion of Tuna Tartare tastes very fresh. I absolutely love the Arugula salad, made from peaches, marcona almonds, radicchio, blue cheese and hazelnut vinaigrette and I’ve gotten it every time I’ve been to Dolce Mare. Actually I would be content to order just the Palmermo Old Fashioned and the Arugula Salad every time I visit. Though, I think they substitute apples for peaches sometimes.
I’ve also had the Crab Cake appetizer, which is also fresh and good. My companions got the Gem Salad (avocado, cucumber, grape tomatoes, corn and sherry vinaigrette) and liked it as well. A friend also got the Prosciutto Platter, which looked very good.
Main Dishes
I’ve had the Summer Truffle Ravioli which are very rich but delicious. I didn’t like the Lobster Ravioli as much but it was flavorful and the dish was full of mushrooms, lobster and shrimp. The Day Boat Scallops are cooked to rich and buttery goodness, though the bean ragu accompaniment is a little odd. A dining companion had the Half Roasted Chicken, which he said was tasty but nothing special.
The Venue
Another feature of Dolce Mare is that one side of the restaurant looks out onto the sweet sea and if you are seated against the window you have an enchanting view. Add that to attentive but relaxed service and you’ve got yourself a winning experience, especially if you have comps to pay for it!
