Wine down at Tropicana this month
Sample more than 150 New Jersey’s wines at the Jersey Shore Wine Festival in the Grand Exhibition Center at Tropicana Atlantic City. Hours are noon to 6 p.m. Feb. 24 and noon to 4 p.m. Feb. 25. Participants must be 21 to attend.
The festival features artisan crafters, food available for purchase, a full service bar, live entertainment and wine seminars by knowledgeable wine professionals.
Tickets, $25 in advance and $30 at the door, are available at the Tropicana Box Office or Ticketmaster.com. Admission includes a souvenir wine glass, participation in educational wine seminars, and a plate of fruit and cheese. Designated-driver tickets, $10, will be available at the door.

Winter is the new summer
Tropicana’s Beach Bash, a celebration of indoor summer fun, continues through Feb. 28. In addition to summer-themed displays, including a giant sand sculpture at Palm Walk, among the highlights are Hippiefest, a free concert featuring Mark Diomede & The Juggling Suns Project, Feb. 10, and retail, dining and nightlife specials throughout the property. Slots of fun
Eventually, you’ll find them at other Atlantic City casinos, but if you want to play Sphinx 4D you’ll have to head over to Tropicana, while a line of new “old-fashioned” reel machines is now available exclusively at Golden Nugget.
Sphinx 4D is the newest slot machine that combines glasses-free True 3D™ technology with gesture recognition and other features. An enhanced version of Sphinx 3D found in most Atlantic City casinos, Sphinx 4D uses a camera that reads your gestures. Add to this, a “touch” feature which gives the illusion you’re manipulating objects “floating” in front of you, enhanced surround sound, ultra-HD graphics, and an advanced moveable chair that shakes and rumbles in synch with what you’re seeing on the screen.
While most of us are trying to lose our post-holiday bulges, a new line of slot machines is accentuating the bulge.
Known for its vast array of video slots, Aristocrat has gone back in time to create new versions of old-fashioned three-reel slot machines – but with some twists. The Australia-based manufacturer has added adjustable high-definition LED lighting, state-of-the-art sound effects and, instead, of a standard flat case, spinning reels positioned slightly forward in a curved extension of the base cabinet.
The machines are available in both penny and dollar denominations. The penny machines are located near the entrance to Grotto Italian Ristorante, and the dollars machines are just inside the High Limit Slots area.
