So, what exactly is living the Mlife (MGM M life Rewards Program)?
This is the first in a series that will introduce you to the MGM Mlife Rewards Loyalty Program. It will describe how to earn points, how to use points to your advantage, and even some things that aren’t known to the general public about the privileges that the most elite players can earn with their Mlife Rewards card. Just like the benefits you see on TravelZork that come with airline travel and loyalty cards, you’ll see how Mlife Rewards benefits you at casinos and a few places that you might not expect along the way.
Back when I started my gaming life, well at least the legal one, the way to get comps in casinos was to grease a few palms, tip your dealers, and find a host that took care of you. While that still happens, the reality of technology, computers, and the way rating systems have changed through that technology, meant that the casino had less need to hand rate players and possessed a much simpler way to track a player’s action—loyalty cards.
The Casino Loyalty Program Mystery
For the longest time, loyalty cards really were a mystery. The idea was that the loyalty card would accurately track your play at machines, tables, and anywhere you gambled, but as the casino megacorps merged, so did the programs.
MGM Resorts had the MGM Players Club, a single card that anyone who signed up for one, could use, and it pretty much gathered gaming information that had no direct meaning to anyone but a host. It worked but it was a technological bridge that went nowhere. There was no transparency. This is what led competitors like Caesars Entertainment to develop Total Rewards (now Caesars Rewards), a tiered program that offered easy comp access and levels that rewarded you for your play. It was an innovation and despite its effect on player loyalty programs for years, MGM continued to cling to the old antiquated Players Club.

Finally realizing what an opportunity in coordination as much as branding was being missed and seeing the success of Total Rewards (now Caesars Rewards), MGM finally developed an answer. That, is Mlife Rewards, a multi-tiered, transparent, and most importantly, useful players club for a new era in casino technology. The MGM Mlife Loyalty Rewards Program was a totally new approach that combined the successes of Caesars Rewards with even more easily achievable levels and services, resulting in what today is regarded by most, myself included, as the best casino loyalty program outside of having a dedicated host.
The premise of MGM Mlife Rewards is simple
Gamble and earn points, earn points and get better benefits. Just like the old system with a host comping you, MGM Mlife Rewards provided a more accurate way of knowing exactly what you were gambling and how much you were earning.
The more you play, the more Base Points and Tier Credits you earn and these Tier Credits allow you to move up to different levels, that have greater and greater benefits. Everyone starts at the bottom and you work your way up through these tier levels:
MGM Mlife Rewards (M life Rewards) – Tier Levels
- Sapphire (0 Tier Credits, new players)
- Pearl (25,000 Tier Credits in a gaming year)
- Gold (75,000 Tier Credits in a gaming year)
- Platinum (200,000 Tier Credits in a gaming year)
- Noir (Invitation Only)
MGM Mlife Rewards – New Level, New Benefits
With each new level comes new benefits including room upgrades and priority access to different events and services, depending on the level. The result is a program that not only helps you track your play accurately, but through Points and Express Comps, also allows you to know exactly what you have in comps and allows you to spend them on your own without needing to bother a host. All of this is accessible from any web browser through Mlife.com.
Log-on and Find Out
Log on and you can do anything you want and know exactly where you stand; your tier credit level, your available comps, all your room offers—everything. You can also book rooms at discounted rates (as offered) through the site, as well as show tickets and restaurant reservations. It’s like a host that’s everywhere, all the time.
Spend Money and Earn Tier Points
But beyond that, MGM Mlife Rewards changed one thing more than anything else in the world of the players club. You can also earn Tier Credits through SPEND as well as gaming. Pay for your room, earn Tier Credits. Get a cabana, earn Tier Credits. Eat dinner, earn Tier Credits—at any MGM property in Las Vegas and a few MGM properties in other regions. What Total Rewards started, MGM took and turned into a player’s club that for once, actually helps the player in a real, clear and useful way.
Our next post will discuss how to earn Tier Credits and we’ll give you some insight into how to use MGM Mlife Rewards to make your gaming trips pay you back in the long run. So stay tuned!
