ZorkFest is just almost here. The event takes place Nov. 1-3 at Horseshoe Las Vegas (formerly Bally’s). A few tickets are still available for anyone interested in attending.
Over the past couple of months, I’ve shared why conferences like ZorkFest are useful. The most important feature of this event for me is the educational seminars.
The knowledge shared by the experts speaking at ZorkFest can help make life and hobbies more fun. I’ve shared this before but everything from casino spending to buying gas and groceries has changed for me since the first ZorkFest.
I got 4x gas rewards and 3x cashback for picking up my groceries this morning. Unless I watch the games tonight with friends (Go Yankees) I’m pretty sure I’ll be using comp points from a casino or bar to pay for dinner. Two of these three things wouldn’t have happened without ZorkFest.
The education at ZorkFest isn’t only about points and miles. There will be experienced gamblers on hand willing to teach the finer points of gambling to novices. ZorkFest has optional sessions for baccarat, blackjack, and the most fun game in the casino – craps.
While ZorkFest is educational it’s also a fun time. The intersection of points, miles, and casinos makes for a special community. It’s easy to forget how much people genuinely want to help others directly or indirectly. Even though I’m a quiet observer, I see you!
Podcasters After Dark should be a fun time with content creators from all walks of ZorkLife™. This will also be the end of a long day on Sat. Nov. 2, so gear up for some general loopiness between the presenters and guests. The first sessions and morning coffee start at 7 am. As much as I like coffee, the odds are that I’ll be arriving fashionably late.
Don’t ask how I know there’s a band named Oddzar. That’s not important right now. Here are a few casino rewards-related topics that might be useful heading into ZorkFest.
Casino Rewards News
The most recent news is that IHG is ending its 15-year partnership with The Venetian at the end of the year. IHG’s other Las Vegas properties leave a lot to be desired. The Venetian will likely announce a new hotel partner soon but that hasn’t been officially announced…yet.
The Venetian is tier-matching its rewards program for the first time. It’s probably a waste to match for upper-tier members of other casino rewards programs unless they only want free parking. The tier match doesn’t give new members any of the most valuable perks. I shared the specifics here a couple of weeks ago.
MGM is swapping the Delano brand for W Hotels at TheHotel Tower of Mandalay Bay. This is an extension of the MGM partnership with Marriott and these rooms will be bookable through Bonvoy. There could be new restaurants and bars but neither company has shared the information. If you’re not familiar with this, you can read the press release here.
