You can bet on this
Moneyline Bar & Book at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa is now BetMGM Sportsbook & Bar. The BetMGM brand is in the process of establishing a national customer base and the platform already is live in Indiana, Colorado, West Virginia and Nevada. Park MGM in Las Vegas also dropped the Moneyline name in favor of BetMGM.
I’ll drink to that!
After unanimous approval by the New Jersey Senate, Atlantic City is now one step closer to having a permanent law permitting open containers in the Tourism District. In June the state Assembly approved the bill. The legislation now goes to Gov. Phil Murphy for his signature. Earlier in June Mayor Marty Small Sr. signed an executive order permitting open containers of alcoholic beverages on the Boardwalk, nonresidential areas of Gardner’s Basin, and the Orange Loop commercial district (St. James Place, New York Avenue and Tennessee Avenue). The order expires in November or when coronavirus-related restrictions are lifted, whichever comes first.
Gaming revenue down from a year ago
Not surprisingly, Atlantic City’s nine casinos and two horse tracks that offer sports betting won $97.5 million in June, a decline of 65.6 percent from a year earlier. This is virtually the same percentage decline they posted in May, when revenue was down 65.4 percent from a year earlier. June was the last full month that the resort’s casinos were closed due to the coronavirus, so June’s winnings were mostly from online betting and a small amount from sports betting.
- Bally’s won $39,000 in sports bets, down 99.8 percent from a year ago.
- Borgata won $17.7 million, down nearly 75 percent from a year ago.
- Caesars, which does not have its own sports betting operation, reported no revenue, though Caesars Interactive-NJ, an internet-only entity, saw its revenue increase by nearly $8.8 million, up 77 percent from a year ago.
- Golden Nugget won $29.2 million, down just a little more than 1 percent.
- Hard Rock won $6.2 million, down nearly 81 percent.
- Harrah’s Resort listed a $2,109 loss due to sports betting.
- Ocean Casino Resort won $1.7 million, down nearly 92 percent.
- Resorts Casino Hotel reported no revenue, but its internet affiliate, Resorts Digital, won more than $21 million, up 119 percent from a year earlier.
- Tropicana won $6 million, down nearly 80 percent.
- For the first half of this year, the casinos and two tracks – the Meadowlands and Monmouth Park – have won a little more than $1 billion through casino games and sports betting, a decline of 35.4 percent from the same period last year. That figure does not include revenue from horse racing.

Wash your drink back with one of these $5 breakfast sandwiches: pork roll, egg and cheese; bacon, egg and cheese; sausage, egg and cheese; or the veggie breakfast burrito. And there’s live music from 6 to 9 p.m. every Sunday evening.
Rhythm & Spirits offers brunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursdays to Sundays. The menu includes parsley pancakes; goat cheese and fresh herb omelet; brined veggie salad; and more. They also serve made-to-order pizzas. Reservations are recommended and can be made through Open Table.
