Cosmopolitan Identity Players Club

Posted by: Marc , August 30, 2015

Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas
The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas is one of the most modern casinos and hotels in Las Vegas. Hotel rooms, restaurants, clubs and entertainment are all on the the cutting edge of what’s hot today and what will be hot tomorrow. The same can be said for their players club. Identity, The Cosmo’s players club, acts more like a traditional loyalty club that could be used for any business than just a casino slot club card. This suits their customer’s perfectly as the gaming makes up only a small piece of what people are spending money on.

Unlike some other players club cards, Identity points are rewarded for spending everywhere at the Cosmopolitan. In addition to receiving points when playing slots and video poker in the casino you also receive Identity points from spending on hotel, dining, shopping and the spa. The Cosmo also has a unique partnership with Marriott that you should keep in mind when booking.

Earning Points

The Cosmopolitan recently changed how they reward spending in the casino. They no longer offers points for table game play but you can still ask a pit boss or host for a discretionary comps based on your play. Here’s how you earn Identity points:

Gambling

  • 1 point – $2.50 reel slots
  • 1 point – $6 video poker
  • Identity points are not earned on table games, sports book and electronic craps machines.

Hotel, Spa, Dining, Shopping

  • 5 points – $1
  • $5 resort credit – $100 spent

Tier Benefits

Identity has four tiers to its players club. Each tier offers members better rewards than the previous tier. Identity tier benefits increase slowly but appropriately for the Cosmo customer. Their high rollers appreciate the VIP benefits more than customers of other casinos.

When you sign up for Identity you begin at the Silver tier. You’re essentially signing up for their marketing mailing list so benefits are minimal. You see incremental benefits as you climb tiers. Here are the details:

Partners

Marriott International is the only partner with the Cosmopolitan. Your Identity points can be transferred to Marriott Rewards which can be redeemed at almost all Marriott locations around the world. Likewise members of Marriott Rewards can also exchange points into Identity Points. Transferred points do not count towards your Identity tier status.

(editor’s note : We plan on discussing Marriott Rewards at length in a future TravelZork post. In addition to having a conversation about some of the promotions and issues between Marriott and Cosmopolitan with regard to points earning and spending. Another valuable resource is this thread on FlyerTalk and the FlyerTalk Cosmopolitan WIKI, especially for those with Marriott Elite status.)

Marriott Rewards Platinum and Platinum Elite members receive the following benefits when staying at the Cosmopolitan:

  • VIP Checkin
  • Ultimate Reservation Guarantee (room will always be ready when you check-in)
  • Choice of bonus reward – 500 Marriott Reward points or $10 dining credit
  • Complimentary room upgrade

Additional recent benefit for Marriott Platinum Elite members, as reported on FlyerTalk :

About the author

Marc grew up on the mean streets of the South Bronx. He's the rare combination of Yankees and Jets fan which explains his often contrarian point of view. He learned about gambling at a young age working down the street from a bookie who took action on anything from the mainstream sports to the last three digits of the purse for certain horse races. Yeah, that's a thing. Today Marc is a freelance writer and social media consultant which allows him to work anywhere there's a wifi signal. This allows him to work from the sportsbook at Red Rock Resort or the food court at The Venetian where you’ll find fast and free wifi. Writing about steak, booze, gambling and Las Vegas is a tough job but somebody has to do it.
