Las Vegas Resort Fees + Las Vegas Parking Fees
[Updated October 2019]
Booking a hotel room in Las Vegas isn’t as simple as it used to be. Actually, just visiting the Vegas Strip isn’t as simple as it used to be either. The addition of Las Vegas Resort Fees (and Las Vegas Parking Fees) to advertised hotel room prices over the years means that your hotel room price isn’t what you’re being told it will be.

Las Vegas Resort fees are an additional, unadvertised, fee added onto the bill to each night you stay in a hotel. These unadvertised fees are also unspoken fees. The fees were negligible at one point. Today they’re a substantial addition to hotel room bills. Vegas Strip resort fees add an additional $25-$39 per night to the cost of a hotel room. At some less expensive hotels that can be an additional 50% more than the advertised price.
Resort fees cover the expense of different amenities offered by a hotel such as wifi, local phone calls, gym and pool access. Every Las Vegas hotel company has a slightly different list, but those are the basic services offered by most companies. Before wifi, the other amenities were complimentary.
When you book a room directly with a hotel you may not see the fee until just before checking out. For example, you might choose a room type, then choose the days and number of people staying in the room, then confirm the information, and then you might see the total room price inclusive of taxes and fees.
Depending on the hotel company you may not see resort fees until you enter your credit card information. You can still back out if the final price is too expensive but this is a lot of steps. Online Travel Agencies like Expedia don’t earn a cut of these fees and typically have them readily available.

But wait, there’s more!
There is another fee if you plan on using a car in Las Vegas. Many casino operators on the Vegas Strip are now charging an hourly and daily parking fee for self-parking and valet. These parking fees are applicable to anyone with a car visiting or staying at the property.
Yes, the Las Vegas Parking Fees are in addition to the mandatory resort fee that you’re paying per night. The good news is that not every casino operator is charging to park. The downside is that the pricing structure for Vegas Strip parking fees is a bit complex. We’ll keep this as simple as possible with links below for more information.
