The FoundersCard British Airways Discount Benefit is one of numerous membership benefits in a fantastic program for entrepreneurs and business leaders. The value in membership are the extensive number of benefits and savings available to members. The decision to join should be based on numerous benefits. In almost all cases, the value of these benefits far exceed the cost of joining FoundersCard. Many of the benefits are travel related and our focus today is on the British Airways discount benefit.
British Airways Discount | 10% Off Most Roundtrip Fares
As with all benefits offered by FoundersCard their are terms and conditions with regard to the use of the benefit. In the case of the British Airways benefit, the discount is applicable towards fares between the US/Canada and the UK. In addition, the current benefit is valid on travel through the 30th of October 2017. Like most benefits, they renew on a yearly benefit, and no benefit is guaranteed to renew in a given year. But, FoundersCard is always adding more benefits each year and provides the most value to those that make use of numerous benefits. I encourage people to review the terms and conditions of any benefit, to be aware of the limitations. The flights must be British Airways coded, but the operating carrier can include British Airways, American Airlines and Iberia. The discount is only applicable for roundtrip purchases, and only applies to the fare and not any of the applicable taxes, fees, and carrier charges. This means that your highest savings will be in premium (Club World, or business class or First Class).
London to Boston in Club (Business Class) | Save £253
When pricing identical dates and flights for British Airways Club World (business class) from London to Boston roundtrip you will notice the fare goes from £2527 to £2274 for a savings of over £250. Considering that FoundersCard membership ranges from $495 (for one year) or $395 per year (two years prepaid) this one flight purchase discount provides an enormous value. Especially since TravelZork is now waiving the $95 initiation fee for a limited time (subject to change).
Redeem Online | Booking is all ONLINE using a special FoundersCard-British Airways webpage
All travel reservation bookings must be made online via the special British Airways booking page accessed from the FoundersCard website. Terms and Conditions clearly state that you must book online. “Discounts can only be booked online through this offer. The exclusive discounts will not apply if booked through a British Airways call centre or travel agent.” When booking online, you need to choose fares with the “Discounted” label as all fare classes are not applicable. In my observations, there seem to be quite a few applicable fares. I would go as far as to say that the vast majority of fares are applicable. But, remember, the discount is only off of the base fare.
London to Boston in World Traveler (Economy Class)
In most instances, the discount on World Traveler Fares will be minimal. The example shown (London to Boston) was chosen randomly when I started to construct multiple fare class images for this article. This is an extreme case of a discount, most times the discount of economy class ranges from £30 to £50 ($35 to $55). As stated, this benefit really shines when you are pricing premium tickets.
London to Boston in WTP World Traveller Plus (Premium Economy) | Save £102
In this example the savings for booking in World Traveller Plus (Premium Economy) are over £100, not bad as one of many benefits offered by FoundersCard.
New York (JFK) to London (LHR/LGW) in Club (Business Class) | Save $236
The discount also works from the United States to London. Once again, you will find the largest savings when booking premium cabins such as Club World (business class). In this example I by chance mixed and matched London airports LHR and LGW which is no issue. So, you can feel free to choose the flight times, airports and prices that work best for you.
