Snowed In – ($32 “COMP” ROOM)
So I was in Atlantic City last week and (sort of) got snowed in. I slept on a couch in a friend’s suite the first night and then had the opportunity to stay at Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City for the cost of just the— Fees : $23.71 for the resort fee plus $3.29 tax on that and $5 for the occupancy fee for a total of $32 a night (on a COMP ROOM!) It was safer and more convenient than driving home so I didn’t think any more about it until I got the hand out at check in that included $5 towards parking. Parking was $15 so that’s one lame coupon. The general manager was so happy that I was, “Choosing to get snowed in with Harrah’s,” that he left me a little voicemail message on the room phone. Harrah’s parking fee varies and he could have cut us snowed in guests a break on parking, but he chose not to.
$5 Off Parking, Really?
What really got my goat though was that the feeble $5 off parking was listed as part of the resort fee. No, it isn’t. It’s a coupon and not a very generous one at that. How can a discount on something be part of amenities at the resort?
Free local phone calls are also included in the resort fee. Oh wow. How convenient. I won’t have to search for a pay phone. Also included is Complimentary 21+ access to the Day Pool daily, but only Sunday and Thursday access to the Night Swim.
Okay, so I thought I would use the one amenity of actual value in the package: Access for up to 2 devices per day to basic in-room Wifi and I got this:
