He followed up by interviewing me for the Vital Vegas Podcast and we spoke off the record about his quest to hit his first Royal Flush.
Booking a hotel room in Las Vegas isn’t as simple as it used to be. Actually, just visiting the Vegas Strip isn’t as simple as it used to be either. The addition of resorts fees to advertised hotel room prices in Las Vegas over the years mean that your hotel room price isn’t what you’re being told it will be. But wait, there’s more! There is another fee if you plan on using a car in Las Vegas. Many casino operators on the Vegas Strip are now charging an hourly and daily parking fee for self-parking and valet. These parking fees are applicable to anyone with a car visiting or staying at the property.
The Las Vegas PR machines might be slow right now but this week was a blur and I expect more of the same next week. A friend was in town for a conference and that gave me an excuse to enjoy Las Vegas like a tourist for a few days. Let’s get to all the Vegas scoop, and also my Vegas News G2E Preview.
Las Vegas vs Macau is a topic that is quite entertaining when you get a bunch of Casino Geeks (Vegas Nerds) in a casino suite, talking about what they find compelling.

Let’s call this week the calm before the storm. It was a relatively quiet week in Las Vegas aside from the Palms Casino Resort drama (details on that shortly). A significant part of the monthly news in Atlantic City October 2019 revolves around Halloween. With Halloween on a Thursday this year, most Atlantic City casinos will be celebrating on Saturday, Oct. 26, and it’s not too early to start planning.
Your favorite casino is more than a place for entertainment. It is regarded by the US government as a “financial institution,” and therefore it is required, under the “Bank Secrecy Act,” to report certain transactions to the US Department of the Treasury through Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN). So, what is the casino telling the government?
I started writing this outside on a beautiful Las Vegas morning. Unfortunately, it’s so windy (about 40 MPH) that my cold brew was shaking on the table and looked as if it was going to fall over. I decided to move inside one of my favorite coffee shops, Madhouse Coffee, to drink the good stuff. Back to your regularly scheduled Vegas News.
On October 1st 2019 Ocean Casino Resort Atlantic City is rolling out their new player loyalty program. This program boasts improvements and possible upgrades, assuming, of course, the player actually receives what is promised. But, will this be a major milestone with regard to Ocean Casino Resort Loyalty?
I finally visited the completely renovated Park MGM Las Vegas. I saw construction at the former Monte Carlo monthly over the past two-plus years. Finally, there was no more construction at Park MGM.
We made it through another Vegas summer! High temperatures appear to be in the double digits for the rest of the year. Low temperatures will be in the mid 50’s by the end of the week with highs less than 80. This summer in Las Vegas wasn’t as brutal as recent years, but it’s still nice to be able to drive with the windows down again.
There are lots of rumors floating around about the future of a few Las Vegas casinos. “Rumors” might have accelerated to “talks” but the deals still aren’t agreed to so there’s nothing officially happening…yet.
