Caesars reported earnings this week. There was no call because the company might go private. Yadda yadda. See the money info here.
Caesars did make the news when landlord VICI said it was working with Caesars on possibly building an NBA arena behind Horseshoe. They’ve both been looking for ways to monetize this land for years. Like all the other arena options – believe it when you see it. Get the details here.
Speaking of believe it when you see it, for some reason Clark County approved a new resort to be built across the street from Mandalay Bay.
Moving forward with plans to develop land at the south end of the Las #Vegas Strip. Commissioners approved permits and reviews for a heart-shaped resort.

The project includes a pedestrian plaza and 265 foot high restaurant atop pillars built for a failed Ferris wheel venture. pic.twitter.com/R5tysaHeYO
If those poles look familiar, it’s because they were going to be used for a big ferris wheel for the Skyvue project. You can see renderings here.
MGM Resorts reported earnings. See the financials here.
Unlike the cowards at Caesars, MGM Resorts had a call to discuss but didn’t address the possible acquisition we told you about a month ago. People could be trying to sell some assets to raise more money to buy MGM. Get that scoop here.
MGM says it sold 30,000 all-in package room nights in four months, and half of the sales were to new customers.
The company said Aria room renovations are still on the table to start this year but didn’t discuss further. Cosmopolitan rooms will be updated after those are completed.
MGM is trying to find ways to make more money from Bellagio. It’s upgrading the meeting and conference space this year. They’re talking about it, but don’t have an action plan for adding high-priced villas, which there are only eight right now. Adding more lakeside dining experiences like Carbone Riviera is also on the table. No specifics yet.
I had to check out the new Master Kim’s Wagyu House at Palace Station. It did not disappoint, and we felt stuffed and amazing after dinner. That doesn’t always happen after Korean BBQ. See below and read more here.
Fantastic dinner at Master Kim’s Wagyu House @palacestation. Went with the Signature Wagyu menu and were treated to a taste of the A5 wagyu, which was phenomenal. pic.twitter.com/6YdDY7T5ZA

My dinner ended up being comped, but we were very happy with the $69 menu and will return for it again. The upgrade is worth it because you can actually taste the difference in the upgraded meats. I’m getting the meat sweats thinking about this again.
Rush is being rumored for a Sphere residency by a UK rag. This might be one way to get Canadians to visit Las Vegas again. Get the scoop here.
Steve Wynn will be talking about The Mirage at the Golden Nugget in October. Read about it here.
Caesars is now operating the Westgate SuperBook. Money has already been transferred to existing Caesars sportsbook accounts. There won’t be any structural changes beyond adding 60 kiosks to place bets. See the press release here.
Speaking of sportsbooks, after months of rumors, Boomers is on the Nevada Gaming Commission Agenda for August to take over the Binion’s and Four Queens sportsbooks. You can see the agenda items here.
A Mike Tyson immersive experience is coming to Flamingo in November. Read more here.
Hard Rock has been approved to build a second theater. The capacity will be about 2,000 people. See the approval here.
Bally’s was supposed to split the cost of a parking garage with the soon-to-be Las Vegas A’s. The MLB team moved forward without Bally’s. Read more here.
The A’s are looking for money wherever they can find it. Since nobody wants to invest big bucks with the current owner, they’re taking relatively tiny investments for a multi-billion dollar team. Read about Mark Cuban’s investment here and the Korean group here.
Tell me what progress from the past 30 days you see in the video below.

Boyd reported earnings last week. You can see the financials here, but last week I shared the useful info.
I’m not a rasslin guy, but moving from the Luxor to MGM Grand Garden Arena seems like a big deal. See the tweet here.
Single-day tickets for the Las Vegas Grand Prix are now available. This seems pretty obvious, but it doesn’t seem that everyone understands that race tickets cost more than practice. Get the details here.
On the subject of the F1 race, Absinthe at Caesars Palace is going dark during race week. It’s an annual tradition, and expect more shows that don’t appeal to rich people to follow suit. Read about it here.
Another race week tradition is returning. The free Neon City Fest is taking place downtown once again.

Taylor Dayne is doing a residency at Harrah’s. Sounds like the right place to me. See the dates and ticket information here.
I wrote about Apple Pay coming to Station Casinos properties a couple of weeks ago. The info was sent to MSM this week. I don’t try to be a news breaker, but I think this is when I’m supposed to whine about other media outlets not crediting my discovery. You can read my original info here.
Wynn won more awards. Big surprise. Read more here.
This Top Gun Experience thing won’t die. I feel like there’s a lot of “believe it when you see it” news this week. Read the press release here.
I haven’t been to the new Cosmopolitan high limit slots room yet. These pics from the MGM earnings presentation are the first I’ve seen inside.
Now I know why nobody has shared pics inside the new Cosmopolitan High Limit slots room. pic.twitter.com/eZybjMQ4Mn

The South Point business model is different from every other Las Vegas casino. It’s one reason so many people love independent casino operators. There’s nothing new here, but I love seeing it in the mainstream media. Check it out here.
As I mentioned last week, Boyd is upgrading a couple of sportsbooks. The Sam’s Town sportsbook is already done. It still looks dated, but that probably fits the bill for the property. You can see it here.

Marc grew up on the mean streets of the South Bronx. He's the rare combination of Yankees and Jets fan which explains his often contrarian point of view. He learned about gambling at a young age working down the street from a bookie who took action on anything from the mainstream sports to the last three digits of the purse for certain horse races. Yeah, that's a thing. Today Marc is a freelance writer and social media consultant which allows him to work anywhere there's a wifi signal. This allows him to work from the sportsbook at Red Rock Resort or the food court at The Venetian where you’ll find fast and free wifi. Writing about steak, booze, gambling and Las Vegas is a tough job but somebody has to do it.
