What Changes Matter In A Casino To Get Your Business? Will a slew of upcoming casino changes matter to you?
Will a slew of upcoming casino changes matter to you?
One of the great things about visiting Las Vegas is that there’s an experience for just about every budget and mood. The things that mattered most when I first visited Las Vegas were different a few years later. What I look for in a Las Vegas casino is even more different after living in Las Vegas for a decade, but that’s another story.
Between work and play, I frequently think about what people want when visiting a Las Vegas casino. This comes to mind this week as there are many casino changes coming all over Las Vegas. Here’s a list of a few things happening right now, in the near future, or that are new:
- Cosmopolitan is switching to MGM Rewards.
- The Venetian is still under a property-wide upgrade (more on this later).
- Mohegan Sun and Momentum Rewards are leaving Virgin.
- Virgin will have a new casino rewards program.
- El Cortez is updating the property with new bars and restaurants.
- Tropicana is being dismantled.
- Slots A Fun just added vintage slots, low minimum tables, and the bar has cheap eats and beer.
- Rio continues to update the bars, restaurants, rooms, and gaming conditions.
- Fontainebleau and Durango are still new, having been open for a few months.
Additionally, the transformation of The Mirage to the new Hard Rock will be swinging into high gear soon.
Major Changes at The Venetian
The Venetian has been undergoing a $1.5 billion makeover since being sold to Apollo and VICI. Here are some of the recent and upcoming changes:
- Sportsbook upgrade at The Venetian.
- New high-limit lounge at The Palazzo.
- Numerous restaurant, bar, and club changes.
- More entertainment and limited engagements.
- Renovated hotel rooms.
- Poker room moving to Grand Canal Shoppes.
- Convention center renovation coming soon.
I’ve had my ups and downs with The Venetian over the years. I’ve gone from loving to hating to loving the property since my first visit. I’ve settled into a comfortable place where I love The Venetian, but for things that didn’t always matter to me. It’s become my favorite mall on the Vegas Strip.
I rarely gamble at The Venetian. I visit the casino most often for the restaurants and bars. It’s one of the good meeting places with all levels of dining options, from quick-serve to fine dining and everything in between.
When I first started visiting Las Vegas, I mostly cared about gambling conditions at my home base and nearby casinos. When I started my original blog, East Coast Gambler, I wrote blog posts for my trips with the video poker paytables from vpfree just so I knew the best options. That doesn’t matter as much today.
The gaming conditions don’t vary much at my favorite properties on the Vegas Strip. The things around gambling matter a little more to me today at most casinos.
The casinos are so close in downtown Las Vegas that there are fair gaming conditions within a few minutes no matter which casino is home base.
The key for me to a casino is a fun vibe with bars and restaurants. Gambling matters less since I’m either getting the same conditions at the properties I like or I’m not gambling at all.
What Matters Most to You?
Enough about me. What matters to you when picking a casino? Will the changes above matter to future visits?
Here’s a reminder of new amenities coming that might matter:
- New hotel rooms.
- Different rewards programs.
- New bars and restaurants.
- Gambling conditions.
