Things aren’t the same for me and many people as we continue to try to get back to something resembling the normal from January and February. There’s not too much to update on COVID in Las Vegas this week so I thought sharing some personal effects might be interesting.
This week we celebrate “Imploding The Mirage!” No, not the obviously fake story I made up last month about Sheldon Adelson buying the Mets and moving them to a new baseball stadium across the street on the land where The Mirage once stood.
No major Vegas COVID-19 update again this week. It hasn’t gone anywhere, and casinos remain under the same protocol. Read this if you’re curious about the local bar situation. Layoffs seem like they’re about to hit some non-gaming hotels too. You can always visit the Nevada Independent for Nevada COVID data. Perhaps, our most significant news is that Mirage is ready to open.
This was a wild week in Las Vegas. Well, maybe not so wild but very newsy. This might be the last heavy news week for a while. Multiple casino operators released second-quarter earnings. Earnings season is done for casinos so there may be a lack of news for the next few weeks. We also touch on something we are all well aware of: Las Vegas visitation is down.
This week’s COVID-19 update from Las Vegas will be super short. There’s a lot of related news from Boyd and MGM earnings reports that center around the impact of COVID in Las Vegas.
Las Vegas is pretty much at a standstill with COVID-19 right now. This isn’t to say it’s gone by any stretch of the imagination. There’s just not much new to share. (At least, we can finally announce: Caesars Merger Complete!)
It looks like COVID-19 ain’t going away quickly so we’ll start the Vegas News once again with a brief update. According to White House data, Nevada is a hot zone and Las Vegas is in particularly bad shape. You can read about the recommendations here and as always see the current data here.
It looks like we’ll be starting the Vegas news with a weekly COVID-19 update for a while now. As usual, I recommend checking the Nevada Independent for updates if you’d like to see the data on how the virus is impacting the Silver State.
