I took an extra trip to Las Vegas to take advantage of a generous Caesars Rewards Promotions January 20th-26th, 2025, 10x Tier Credit multiplier, a much higher multiplier than the usual 5x Tier Credit multiplier promotions. Here’s how I thought about and attacked this Caesars Rewards Loyalty Program promotion.
Following Wyndham’s announcement that Caesars Rewards members will no longer be able to match Wyndham Diamond status to Caesars Diamond status through the Wyndham Business Earner credit card, I sought ways to earn status with Caesars Rewards at a low cost.
In addition to using the Caesars Rewards Visa to earn 5000 Tier Credits (or 7500 Tier Credits in the first year) and playing online Blackjack in PA and NJ, I decided to concentrate my in-person play during Tier Credit multiplier promotions while playing Video Poker.
The Cap
The 10x Tier Credit promotion capped earnings at 30,000, so earning a base of 3000 Tier Credits would maximize the promotion. Additionally, focusing play on one gaming day would earn an additional 5000 bonus because earning 2500 base Tier Credits in one gaming day gives a bonus. One day of play earning 3000 base Tier Credits would give me a whopping 35,000 Tier Credits – earned Diamond Plus status early in the year.
Since I’m familiar with Jacks of Better video poker, I decided to play this game rather than Slots (which typically have a much higher house advantage) or table games (where Tier Credit earning would be much slower). Aiming to reduce variance, I played a 100-play Jacks or Better Video Poker machine at Caesars Palace for $10 a pull ($0.02 five-credit hundred play). At a conservative 500 hands per hour, this would and eventually did, take about six hours of play.
The Return Percentage
The 100-play game in question offered an approximate 96% return to player with optimal strategy and low variance compared to playing a single-line game or something like five-play or ten-play, which may provide a slightly lower house edge.
Giving up an extra 1% may also give me better future return offers because this helps my ‘theo,’ or theoretical loss. The 100-play game was also located on a bank of multiple machines, allowing an adjacent machine to sit near my recent podcast guest, Mandi. This made the experience less of a grind because it was more social.
The “Under-Royaling”
After I earned 3000 tier credits, I stopped playing because future earn would not be bonused. I lost $1622, $422 below expectation, likely because I was ‘under-royaled’ for the session hitting only three royal flushes on runouts after being dealt three to a royal flush. 3000 tier credits posted almost immediately, 5000 bonus Tier Credits posted in a few days, and 27,000 Tier Credits (the remainder of the 30,000 after considering the 10x multiplier) posted in about a week.
My Thoughts
I’m looking forward to future Tier Credit multiplier promotions on my quest to Seven Stars status. Although I’ll miss a 10x Tier Credit promotion in Laughlin from March 7th through 9th, I’m looking forward to future 5x Tier Credit multipliers or better in Las Vegas, Atlantic City, and other locations.
